Posted: 23 Jul 2021 04:57 AM PDT Its skullface, peace walker(all thought not an antagonist boot sequence was one of the best MGS cutscene) and solidus for me. skullface's intro is amazing and his character was way too good.his mysterious persona and final line of his intro 'see you in hell , big boss' pure orgasmic. And peace walker's activation has one of the best soundtrack of peace walker mixed with Kojima's god tier direction. I still have goosebumps after watching it so many times. Mgs2's solidus's intro is neat too the music and his dialogue's are amazing. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Jul 2021 07:08 AM PDT Venom Snake is called a "demon" throughout the Phantom Pain and yet: there is no indication both within gameplay (canonically) as well as story-wise for such name-calling – Venom is understanding, patient, always calm, compassionate, merciful and logical. Although this discrepancy between who Venom's supposed to be in MGSV and how he actually is/acts in reality is more evident within The Phantom Pain – there's also some interesting aspects to take into consideration regarding Ground Zeroes as well. Let's start with the intro – Ground Zeroes opens up on a long continuous shot that displays almost the entirety of Camp Omega in Cuba and where Big Boss's supposed to complete his mission – and in the background there's also a briefing cassette tape that's playing with conversations held between Snake and Kazuhira. Now the first thing one can notice is just how cold and ruthless Big Boss's tone is compared to his previous iterations – and also what stands out is the almost unanimous decisiveness on his part to pretty much execute Paz to prevent her from talking ["…so what's the plan? Silence her before we're compromised?]. If it wasn't for Kazuhira stepping in and saying "No"; Snake would have taken that course of action that's for sure, judging by how ready to go he sounded. Secondly – as heard in cassette tapes: Snake is very talkative and usually keeps adding more and more questions to the table – even if small ones and totally irrelevant to the matter at hand – he's just a very outspoken person, and yet – in Ground Zeroes, he's almost always silent when someone's talking to him on the com-link or even when he's dealing with objectives regarding his mission – he keeps his chat to a bare minimum. Now that could be excused due to professionality on his part – but seeing as to how there's such a stark comparison between the personalities of the real Big Boss and the one of his Phantom (Venom Snake) who's on the other hand a real silent-type and barely even talks – it's kind of suspicious that now all of a sudden the real Big Boss also changes character and starts acting more like Venom as to make the transition from the two games more seemless and not to give away the twist. Despite this point not really hitting the nail on the head and being interpretable in many ways that are not convincing enough to the purpose of this theory – let's move forward since there's other suspicious traits within Ground Zeroes that are worth noting. For example the title Big Boss is given – Snake: a former hero once known by the code name "Big Boss". In the Peace Walker ending Snake clearly asks Kazuhira to "from now on, call me Big Boss". And yet some months later after Peace Walker took place – in Ground Zeroes – the player's supposed to believe he suddenly went back to "Snake" for no reason at all. If one actually takes into consideration some of the more "on the nose" details regarding both games: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain – when the player goes into the mission-preparation menu where one can choose weapons and gear for Venom Snake before commencing a mission – there's also a character switch option; and one can clearly read that Venom Snake is simply written off as "Snake" as his codename. Also the numerous instances throughout the Phantom Pain where Venom is only called "Snake" by others such as Ocelot and Kazuhira himself (to whom mind you, the real Big Boss at the end of Peace Walker had already asked to specifically call him Big Boss from that moment on) and yet he calls this new Boss "Snake" – as maybe to subtly differentiate since Venom wouldn't know about that conversation between the real Big Boss and Kazuhira where the first asked the latter to call him "Big Boss" from that moment on. And yet, Venom Snake's supposed to share all memories and missions on record that the real Big Boss had –so how is it supposed to be obvious that Venom Snake wouldn't suspect his own allies calling him "Snake" instead of "Big Boss" and probably wouldn't even know about that conversation Kazuhira and the real Big Boss held at the end of Peace Walker? This is where another element of suspicion comes into place. Venom Snake hasn't been given the real version of the story – thus his memories have been "filtered" or "altered slightly" to fit a specific purpose that his programmers wanted him to fulfill. For example as seen by the end of The Phantom Pain where the real Big Boss pretty much abandons Kazuhira in Afghanistan after he'd found out at the end of Peace Walker that Kazuhira knew about the ruse with Paz and Zadornov – this means that in the real Big Boss's mindset Kazuhira could not be trusted anymore and he took his revenge for Kaz backstabbing him. And yet – Venom Snake on the other hand went to rescue Kazuhira in Afghanistan as if nothing happened and they were friends again – why? The answer is in Ground Zeroes and in one small quote from Kaz on the com-link: "…the rain was coming down just as hard the day we met Paz. I only want peace for my country – i can't believe we ever bought that cover story. There was one thing i kept asking myself, which was the real Paz and which was the lie?". Again, this contradicts the ending of Peace Walker where Kazuhira specifically states that: "I… uh, knew Paz and the Professor. I knew who they really were all along". If there are two versions of the story contradicting themselves but also at the same time coexisting with each other – it must mean that one is the version that was given to Venom and that he must have experienced in his own mind, while the other's the actual factual truth as witnessed by players during Peace Walker. Following logics – if Venom Snake went to rescue Kazuhira in Afghanistan, then his own version of the story must fit the one that's explained in Ground Zeroes – where for some reason Kazuhira is still innocent and fell victim of the ruse with Paz and Zadornov just as much as the rest of MSF did and he actually never betrayed Big Boss, remaining a close ally of his. But let's move on. When Big Boss rescues Chico in Ground Zeroes, Chico has a panicked reaction and actually pushes Snake away asking to leave him alone and go away. Now of course, this is all due to the torture he'd endured at Camp Omega and trauma he'd experienced due to witnessing what Skull Face did both to him and other prisoners such as Paz – which means that when Snake came along to rescue him, he probably thought yet another torturer or even Skull Face himself had come back for more – that much is clear. But, if one follows the dots that have led so far to such conclusions – if Ground Zeroes is indeed the version of the story that was presented to Venom and that he relieved in his own mind; then Chico not recognizing Snake would also be a subconcious warning of Venom Snake's mind that deep down he knows he's not Big Boss – and thus the fabricated/imagined scenario around him in his head reacts accordingly and Chico doesn't recognize him at first. A momentary fallacy in the hypnagogic therapy. This also rises further suspicion where after Big Boss/Snake had ruthlessly claimed he wanted to execute Paz – when the player actually does find Paz prisoner in Camp Omega; Snake's body language and demeanour indicate exactly opposite intentions – he's gentle, caring, even grabs her by the cheeks, moves her body gently and places her hands over her head in a comfortable position, showing that he actually cares for her well-being and feels bad for what's happened to her. If one plays the Phantom Pain – it would become noticeable that such a demeanour is more in line with how The Medic/Venom Snake acts (actually caring for his patients) rather than Big Boss. Then there's the tape Chico sent to Snake. In the briefing Big Boss asks "so who's the other target?" – when Chico had already called upon Snake for help in a cassette tape and specifically asked Big Boss to come rescue him. This is actually a hint as to what really went on – Snake and Kaz organized the mission in Camp Omega to clean their mess and take care of some lose ends (such as Chico and Paz) that knew enough information to compromise them both – and the targets as well as mission priorities were decided as they went along and probably shortly before the operation even took place. The whole thing about Chico sending Snake a cassette tape is a mental trick ordained by the therapists that were performing the hypnagogia on Venom Snake – so that Venom would hear Chico's voice in a cassette tape and quote on quote "remember him" or rather – imagine him for the first time in his head, as if he had known him all along. The same thing was done with Venom hearing the mission debriefing during the introduction to the prologue – where he listens to Kaz and Big Boss talking about the targets and if it'd rather be more beneficial to either rescue or execute them on the spot. This is the real Big Boss in cassette tapes actually talking to Kaz – and those tapes were played to Venom so that he could immerse himself in the context of what was going on and imagine the whole scenario in his own mind – which is why there's such a stark contradiction between Big Boss's words (executing Paz) and Snake's actions in-game during the mission (him actually caring about both Paz and Chico's well-being on an emotional level). Further instances of Big Boss acting like Venom in Ground Zeroes are for example when he witnesses the destruction of Mother Base after having loaded Kazuhira Miller onto the chopper and the latter gives this whole speech about how "they played us like a damn fiddle!". One can clearly observe that despite the fact that Big Boss is speechless due to the catastrophe that he'd just witnessed – when Kaz shouts: "…give it back! This isn't right that was ours! We built it damn it!" – the same level of indifference and perplexity is clearly noticeable to that of Venom Snake where he also shows it in The Phantom Pain during Kazuhira's claim that "Boss… I'm gonna make 'em give back our past, take back everything that we've lost… and i won't rest until we do" as if he doesn't fully understand Kazuhira's overreaction and passion about the matter and thus, despite feeling bad about it, doesn't really know what to say – again, a silent and rather quiet moment from Big Boss much echoing Venom Snake's reactions to most things, since at the end of the day – Venom only cares about his men but he doesn't understand the ideology behind MSF (since Venom's not the one that created it) which is why he isn't so distraught at the destruction of Mother Base in and of itself. But one can also clearly observe the level of care and commitment for his men that Snake shows in Ground Zeroes when one of his soldiers is shot in front of him and he gives out a battle scream ready to avenge the fallen – this is much more in line with how Venom viewed and respected his own men in The Phantom Pain – rather than the real Big Boss who abandoned everybody in favor of the construction of Zanzibar Land and was accommodating into placing an entire hospital of innocents in a line of fire just to escape. Based on this – there's also a canonical explanation as to why the Medic's face is never on focus with Ground Zeroes's camera work – it's because Venom Snake had been completely dissociated from his former self – and thus, seeing as to how Ground Zeroes is all happening inside of Venom's head; his former visage/appearance (the face of the Medic) is first of all not the center of his focus, because they'd convinced him it was simply a background detail with no importance whatsoever since the focus was Big Boss as he needed to believe that he was him – and also, because he can't really remember what he looked like before, so the camera doesn't show or straight up hides because Venom's mind is either confused or subconsciously refusing to see the truth as he can't really bring himself to think about it and give it the importance it needs, since he's convinced of a lie (which is why then in the Epilogue he actually grabs the photos from the Greek Doctor and slides his finger to reveal his true identity, because his mind had given priority back to his own doubts and suspicions) – and the face appears as if it's been blurred out in memory. And finally – when Snake grabs a weapon and opens the chopper's door looking at the flaming debris of Mother Base in the ocean as they're approaching – the Big Boss that's shown in Ground Zeroes in that exact moment does the same face twitch that Venom also has as a form of "tick" within the Phantom Pain, as well as also doing it in other instances throughout Ground Zeroes for example in the Prologue when he first opens the iDroid and then puts it away. Thus the "demon" that Venom Snake needs to drive out of himself is the one he heard in cassette tapes and that they'd convinced him he used to be in a past that does not belong to him – the real Big Boss; and this is why he's also so perplexed about his own memories; because he remembers being this horrible character and that's why he seeks redemption as "Venom Snake", but at the same time he feels like such a different person (because he is as The Medic) that that past seems so foreign and alien to him and in synthesis he's basically paying the consequences and living with the guilt of another man on his shoulders. [MGS1] just how long does otacon take to get over to the prison cell? Posted: 22 Jul 2021 09:28 PM PDT Ok so, I'm at the part where snake gets locked up after torture round 1. So far it's been a good couple of minutes since I called Otacon and NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. Is my game just fucked or is something supposed to happen if I wait long enough? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Jul 2021 10:24 AM PDT Hey everyone! I am thinking of doing my 3rd full playthrough through MGS5 again soon. When I did my second I wiped my save data to start again fresh, I had to do all research over again (I am okay with that) but when you get to FOB in the game my "free" one from the first playthrough was there so I had two "free" FOB now. I am wondering if this is a confirmed thing that If I wipe my saved data again I will get three "free" FOBs now? [link] [comments]
Who made the plan that took place in MGS V Posted: 23 Jul 2021 06:30 AM PDT Spoilers obviously for MGS V So towards the end we find out that the Big Boss we play as, Venom, is actually a new snake. But it seems like the real Big Boss, John/Jack, made the plan so he could go on to make the real Outer Heaven in Metal Gear. However in one of the cassettes Zero says he's made a new Snake and no not the kids, so it seems that he's on about Venom. My question is who made the plan for Venom, Big Boss or Zero? Like I can see two possibilities, Zero had the plan, got Ocelot to brainwash Venom, but then he told John about it who then highjacked the plan for his own gain. Or it was John's plan so he could do the 2 bases plan, used Ocelot to do the brainwashing, but then Ocelot told Zero. Just something I'm not overly sure about [link] [comments]
