I feel like this is MGSV in a nutshell

10 years ago, Metal Gear Solid Rising had it's first trailer released (the first teaser was in 2009 but had no graphics outside of Raiden model.)

RAIDEN from MGR gets replaced by SUPER SNAKE... does he clears Reveangence?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2020 11:22 AM PDT

In this universe, Snake never aged and MGR events happened except that during the freight train battle, Sam cuts Raiden's head instead of his arm, killing him.

So in 2018 Doktor contacts Philanthropy and tells Otacon everything, he then tells Snake about the news, that a group of people needs their help.

Knowing that Raiden is dead, Snake immediately takes the mission but Otacon tells him that he has to wear his new prototype suit his been working on with Sunny, Snake agrees and they proceed.

Otacon opens the garage to reveal a ton of equipment, he introduces him to the new "BOSS-1972" aka "Super Gear", a new type of muscle suit. The user is able to run 35mph and jump as high as 12 feet, the user is also able to bench press 2k lbs as well as deadlift 4k lbs with ease, with also the ability to curl 400lbs like nothing. The suit is made of a very light type of carbon fiber that is bullet proof, able to resist up to 50 BMG rounds, with also a very solid padding around hands, elbows, knees and feet for blunt force trauma.

The suit also comes with anti-HF blade weapons, such as two small shields that attach to each forearm which protects from HF blade attacks, when not needed, they can be attached to the back, small blades that attach to the calves for surprise attacks, and a HF breaker clamp which has the ability to break any blade when it wraps around it, however the clamp only has a limited time use, as it can break if used too much. And finally the suit comes with a half face mask that allows for extra protection, which works by pulling a string to activate.

The rest of the gear is a Stun Knife, an M45A1 with armor penetrator rounds and a IC-PSD M4 rifle with armor penetrator rounds.

Snake takes the equipment and heads to start his mission with Otacon and Sunny as support team. Otacon then jokes about Snake being the new "Superman" but Snake corrects him by saying "Super Snake".

The MGR event happen the exact same way with the only difference is that Snake has took Raiden's spot, does he clears the whole game?

I have played every single Metal Gear game for the first time. (Review)

    Posted: 14 Jun 2020 10:06 AM PDT

I have always known about the franchise, and even played MGS1 as a kid with no regards to the plot though. In 2017, I got my hands on GZ and TPP and played through them with no understanding of what's going on in the game. I was so confused but somehow I enjoyed playing through it so much and sinked about 60 hours in it. After finishing it, I felt even more confused by the ending and I had withdrawl from finishing it, so I decided to buy a PS3 and play through the entire franchise on it. I started in 2018 and finished it just today, I didn't rush through the games and I tried to enjoy every game as much as possible and understand everything. I have to say that it was the best video game experience I've had in ages.

Last week, I replayed GZ and TPP, everything seemed super easy to understand and for it being a series released over the span of 28 years, the story had little plotholes and everything seemed connected, and the ending hit me way harder than the first time I've beaten it. To be quite honest, it didn't seem like an appropriate ending to such a great franchise. In my opinion, MGS4 served me as the ultimate ending to the series, with Solid Snake being the one who followed the Boss's will and going into retirement with no loose ends left, now that's a really good ending to the franchise.

I highly recommend anyone who wants to play MGS to go through the entire franchise by release order, but leave Guns of the Patriots as the last one.

Is there high durability suppressors for pistols in MGSV?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2020 10:33 AM PDT

I wanted to attach a suppressor to my AM-D114 Carbine Pistol, but I only have a medium suppressor. I know that a medium suppressor is good, but I need better!

    Raiden vs Armstrong?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2020 08:16 AM PDT

I have no idea how Raiden cut through Armstrong with the Muramasa blade. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's an HF blade as well, just like Raiden's base blade. I realize that the Muramasa is stronger, but Armstrong was engineered to counter them. Am I missing something? I also feel like the original HF blade was played up to be really good, but then snapped in half by Armstrong

The official MGS 1 (1998) soundtrack album is incomplete

    Posted: 14 Jun 2020 01:41 PM PDT

The official MGS 1 (1998) soundtrack album is incomplete

Have you all noticed that some music from the game is missing from the official album released in 1998?

    https://metalgear.fandom.com/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_Original_Game_Soundtrack

For example, the bit from the Master Miller reveal towards the ending of the game.

This is what I am talking about (note: I have no idea how this audio was created. The channel where I took this is gone now, and at the time the uploader never clarified how he pull this out).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hz97fuIc-I

    Also check this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7x30cHOKBs

And if I am not mistaken "The Best is Yet to Come" instrumental:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPEDbjWJpM4

"You Need a Sniper Rifle": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mE6ng23nJ3M

I thought it was a good idea to try isolating the music from the dialogues and sound effects. But this is impossible as far as I know.

First of all, if we analyze the PS1 version all technical data from the CD can't be extracted for example like Resident Evil 1 (1996) or RE 2 (1998). The files inside the folders aren't able to be read.

Using specific PC software we are able to extract (from RE games for the PS1) the sound effects, voices and even music. Strangely for RE 1 the same issue happened, since this album:

    https://residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/Resident_Evil_Original_Soundtrack_Remix

Doesn't feature the entire music heard in the game, and a few have been modified (hence the "Remix").

We can't do the same for MGS 1 (1998, PS1), and not only for music, I believe for everything else, like the codec conversations and specific sound effects.

Now this is where things get interesting:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/metalgearsolid/comments/4qlv1c/final_full_release_metal_gear_solid_1_integral_pc/

This game has been released for PC and as you can see from above we are able to play in HD quality. One thing the PC version offers that is exclusive to it is the possibility to isolate music and sound effects. We only need to turn down the volume for one of them. This is impossible in the PS1 version.

Which means it's possible to record all codec conversations without any music in the background. That would be an interesting idea for a 2nd compilation, like this one I commented before:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/metalgearsolid/comments/h8cxuc/mgs_1_1998_almost_all_codec_conversations/

But (and this is something I noticed and couldn't believe at first) even if we do that the music is heard again with the dialogues in these moments (these bits) of unreleased sountrack.

For example, that bit where Master Miller makes a revelation (in the ending):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzfZ60rekqo

Is no different from what you are seeing in the video above. For that reason we can't isolate the missing music bits to compensate for the official album not having them.

I believe these bits are missing forever and can't be restored, probably for them and Resident Evil 1 (1996) the original tapes were lost. That's my conjecture, of course, and this is very likely because it's been decades and neither game had the missing tracks released so far.

The sequels had all their music released. Resident Evil 2 (1998) for example has 2 albums (3 CDs).

    *****
One more thing: there's a bootleg album from VR Missions (1999), called "Virtual Existence", in MP3 format. I was able to download and save this from Emuparadise when they had these threads there. This music was also never released.

This is the cover from it:

    And tracks are: 1 - MGS Main Theme, 2 - Main Menu, 3 - Sneaking Mode, 4 - Weapon Mode, 5 - Advanced Mode, 6 - Alert, 7 - Mystery, 8 - Ninja, 9 - The Truth Is Over There, 10 - Genetic Monster Genolla, 11 - Photo Shoot, 12 - Level Complete, 13 - Mission Failed.

There's a playlist here on Youtube:
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYG-vy6xmqiNsQ3vBs5K7TEi-qMFJ4OtB

Someone also posted "The Best is Yet to Come" instrumental, and extended:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeFBGqVh_y4

I wonder how this was recorded and from where did the uploader recorded.

    Video Info:

Metal Gear Solid played on: Playstation

    Recorded with: Hauppauge HD PVR

Edited with: Sony Vegas Pro 10.0

Anyway, that's it... if someone can make a new post detailing what exactly is missing from the official album, and in what moments we can hear the missing bits IN THE GAME, I would really appreciate.

While the tracks available in the official album are great, it's really a shame they couldn't include that one from the Master Miller reveal. It's perfect to convey the suspense required in that scene.
