Might have picked up a hint about the truth of MGSV early in the game. Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:27 PM PST I know there are a lot of hints about the truth of who Venom snake is before the end of the game, It's either looking too far into it or obvious and I should've realised earlier. When Ocelot and Snake are on horses after the Prologue and are on their way to save Miller, Ocelot passes his water canteen to Snake and he reaches out with his prosthetic and at first kind of misses and seems to struggle a little. Now at first I thought it was him learning to use his new arm, however in game he seemed to get used to it pretty much immediately. It clicked with me that maybe he was struggling with depth perception after losing the use of his right eye, as before the attack and the coma he had use of both eyes, and he had only been up and out of bed for a couple weeks at this point. Like I was saying the real Big Boss has lost his right eye sight 20 years before so probably was pretty used to it by now, but even though Venom lost it 9 years ago he had only been awake for a short space of time, therefore hinting to Venom Snake possibility not being Big Boss. Like I said maybe it was obvious but it only dawned on me recently. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:07 AM PST Background: Project Itoh is a writer who wrote Novelized version of MGS4, along with other works such as Genocidal Organ and Harmony. He passed away in 2009. The indifference engine was published in 2012, as a collection of his (then) unpublished shorter works. Fox's Funeral was one of works included in this book as a fanfic of Metal Gear Solid 3. As a fanfic, this work is not to be taken as canon in any way. Nonetheless, I thought the plot is really interesting and wanted to share, so here's a summary of the plot. DISCLAIMER:English is not my first language and therefore there is likely to be numerous spelling/grammatical error (Hell, it might've already happened). Plot: The prologue: A teenage boy asks his adoptive father about the origins of his name. The father tells that the boy deserves to know, but also he will be tied and cursed by the name, and die by that name. The father reveals that the name of the boy, Frank Jaeger, originally belonged to a friend of his (the father), a friend that he killed. Chapter 01 : The year is 1970. Jack visits Major Zero. Zero has contracted with a terminal cancer and at his deathbed at the Naval Institute for Health in Bethesda. Zero asks Jack if he knows Frank Jaeger. Frank was also a member of FOX and friend of Jack. Little did Jack know, Frank participated in CIA's Phoenix Program (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Program) and took part in mass execution and torture of civilians in Vietnam and Laos. Zero says he had to cooperate with CIA to protect FOX, but now, it's all in vain. Jack asks what he means, which Zero simply replies: "FOX will disband". Chapter 02: Major Zero briefs Jack about the situation. Frank Jaeger, whose duty was to train and educate Laos' native tribes to counter communist factions in Vietnam and block Ho Chi Ming route, has gone dark for a year. Chapter 03: Jack dreams about his mentor in the flower field. He recognizes her, but cannot remember her name. She tells that her real name doesn't matter to her or to him or to anyone, and the joy was all that she stood for and how she lived by. Jack asks her if she found the joy in betraying him and martyring for the country. She replied that that is what it means to live and die as a soldier, and she did live up to her name. She then continues to say that Jack is however not a soldier, but a warrior, and he cannot die in the battlefield feeling the joy. Jack denies and tries to follow her, but cannot reach her. White flowers quickly starts to wither around him, and Jack wakes up in the jungle. Jack sneaks past local militia patrols, and recognizes their stance and searching pattern because they are almost identical to FOX's. The scene cuts back to Zero's briefing again. After Frank Jaeger has gone dark, Lao loyalists informed CIA that U.S operative has fallen to communist ideology and is now committing genocides all over Laos along with villagers he trained. Jack immediately denies the notion, but CIA and has officially confirmed the genocide in several villages in Laos, and some Lao loyalists actually engaged with Frank's troops. CIA, NSA, and even U.S national security council acknowledged Frank as a threat and decided to disband FOX as a result. And, much like operation Snake Eater, Jack was sent in Laos to "clean up the mess". Jack arrives at the ruin where many Buddhism sculpture was abandoned, where he gets ambushed and surrounded by armed militias, and meets Frank. Chapter 04: Jack confronts Frank and asks his motive. Franks answers that he does not stand for anyone's ideology and does not represent any government or politician whatsoever. He says he fights for freedom, so that they will be released from any powers whatsoever. Frank pulls out the knife and gets ready to fight. Jack is reluctant but forced to fight back. After the CQC fight, Jack stabs Frank in the stomach and fatally wounds him, but also realizes that Frank intentionally let him do that. Jack has a flashback of the moment when he killed his mentor, and breaks down mentally and roars while militias just watch as it happens. Chapter 05: Jack attends Major Zero's funeral in Sussex. Zero passed away two days before Jack's return from Laos, saying that he wants to postpone the funeral until Jack returns as a last will. After the funeral, Jack asks Zero('s gravestone) what he stood and fought for, knowing he won't answer, not anymore. The scene cuts back to Jack and Frank's conversation after Frank got critically injured. Frank explains that he fell in love with a local woman shortly after he was sent in Laos, and had a baby. One of militia with a baby walks forward and hands the baby over to Jack. Frank says his lover died when a rogue faction of Lao loyalists attacked innocent villages., dooming they are communist sympathizers.(The "genocides" loyalists informed U.S about was also perpetuated by this rogue faction) After her death, Frank decided to train and arm his locals and protect from any form of government and political ideology to never allow this to happen ever again. Jack opposes, but Frank states the fact that the concept of an organized violence being monopolized by a nation is fairly recent, and people can and should arm and achieve independent without a nation. He was willing to oppose and fight against any government that tries to take that away from them. Jack asks Frank that then why he allowed Jack to stab him. Frank answers he already knew that Jack is also deprived of the one he loved, and he is already starts wanting the same thing. He also knew Jack is indeed capable of giving powers to the weak, and achieve what Frank could not. Frank tells Jack that he is already a warrior and asks him to take care of the baby, and pass away. Epilogue : The adoptive father finishes his story. The boy accepts it, and kept living by its name. When he grew old enough to fight in the battlefield, he was given the same codename with his biological father. The year is now 1999. The boy, who is now called Grey Fox, awaits Solid Snake in the room in Zanzibar Land. Fox contemplates the words he was given by his adoptive father, and thinks that maybe it is his fate to be defeated by Solid Snake, just like his adoptive father killed his biological father. The door opens, and the story ends. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:32 AM PST Snake already started liking Ocelot when they met for the second time at Rassvet, because all of his reactions and emotions he expresses looked genuine. The battlefield during Cold War is filled with espionage, deception, and betrayal. In fact, Snake did get betrayed by his mentor shortly before. Snake just did not feel good about letting EVA, a representation of such deceptive side of battlefield, a spy he still did not trust at the time, shoot Ocelot in the back. After several confrontations, Snake even started liking the rivalry between him, because in a way, confronting (and confronted by) Ocelot and facing his rivalry is one way of forgetting the immense pressure he was on. The tension between the two is purely private and individualistic, contrary to the mission he was tasked with, and that made Snake feel he is free. He was in a way grateful to this relationship, and wanted to let Ocelot settle the score in his way. [link] [comments]
Are Metal Gear Rising DLCs Worth the Cost? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:08 AM PST Hi everyone! I sadly own the European version, which means I don't get a free JetStream/Wolf expansions. I actually tried to download the Free US DLC, but those won't work with the European disk version I'm assuming because I can't see the option to start a new game with either JetStream/Wolf under 'Story'. The European store have those, but there was never been and discount. Buying one of the DLC is the price I payed for the game, buying the two is almost TWICE the original game price. I checked some reviews. People opinion swings around it. Too short. No upgrade system, no new enemies etc. I'll add I REALLY liked Metal Gear Rising as a game. Is the DLC worth getting in you own opinion? [link] [comments]
Updates to the MSX Metal Gears? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:30 AM PST Does anyone know what was changed in the Snake Eater Subsistence versions of the two MSX games? I read online that they were updated to be more in line with the rest of the series but I can't find any info on what was actually changed. [link] [comments] |
