- Are these figurines something a hardcore MGS fan would enjoy getting for christmas? Best regards, non-gaming wife of said hardcore fan
- Wondering how many of you guys have this? I bought it in 2018 for 150ish and just never got around to opening it. It's still in the plastic wrap. I checked on Amazon and now it's selling for 400. I've had it for so long that I'm tempted to just never open it, don't know why

My problem with Peace Walker and Phantom Pain Posted: 03 Dec 2021 05:16 AM PST The Metal Gear series has always revolved around advanced military technology. The centerpieces of these games are always advanced tanks that mostly have the ability to walk. Through the series we see these machines evolve. They become AI controlled and are gradually scaled down from towering monsters to more efficient (and really unsetlling) geckos. When I played MGS3 for the first time I really digged how they decided to degrade the technology to match the time setting. Every piece of tech Naked Snake encounters told to be experimental or still in development. Even the Shagohod, the most advanced piece of technology in this game, looks crude compared to later metal gears. Which is why I think the developers missed a nice opportunity here, to scale down the tech in Peacee Walker and Phantom Pain and rather provide us with some prototype looking metal gears that add to the myth of metal gear. Peace Walker gives us some impressive machines to battle, but it just feels like they don't belong in the Metal Gear universe. Especialy when you take in to account how crude the TX-55 looks, compared to, say, Chrysalis. They could have easily make MGSV about a quest to aquire plans for a new type of weapon and expand the mythology. Instead the tech just feels out of place. What are your opinions? Note: I'm not criticising the games, only some of the artistic choices. tl/dr: The advanced tech of Peace Walker and Phantom Pain don't fit into the established timeline and Kojima could have gone with more robust experimental tech which could have been equally impressive. Does anyone feel incredibly overwhelmed when they play MGS4? Posted: 04 Dec 2021 12:02 AM PST MGS4 gives me such profound anxiety I'd never thought I'd feel from a video game. The world is incredibly detailed compared to it's predecessors. You can now see Snake has wrinkles because he's old at a YOUNG AGE. Every location is covered in sunlight or harsh weather conditions. The cutscenes are directed like some sort of Tarantino or Kubrick movie. The cutscenes are absurdly long and filled with 30 minutes of lore per each one that go into deep stories of each and every little thing. Despite nanomachines. Snake is old and slow. He walks through and warzone but must sneak. This game can be hard for noobs. It can be hard to hide sometimes. You hear men die from the war economy (but hear there comedic screams) When men see you, it can be hard to escape their sight. Its basically game over. The AI is really aware. You feel the slick of death everywhere. The atmosphere is simply not the same as the others. You aren't in a quietly secluded location in the mountains or oceans. You are travelling the world. Some locations aren't loud and overwhelming but Eastern Europe makes you feel like an orphan sometimes. But there is also good anxiety like giant robot fights. Who else feels this way?
