I started to redraw an old piece of mine from 2014. Now I just need time to finish.

My metal gear solid collection so far

I love these kinds of artworks that show Metal Gears on the battlefield. Really adds to the believability

Asked myself: Why would I need this? Turns out I should've been asking: Why wouldn't I need this?!

I'd like to mention a quote from TV tropes and see what you think.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 06:39 AM PST

It defines the metal gear "awesone, but impractical". Now I'll explain why with the quote:

"Sure, it seems like the ultimate weapon, given that it can launch nukes essentially undetected from any terrain, but the idea seems to run on "Rule of Cool". The games seem to acknowledge this, though. The first two games have the legs of the titular Metals Gears as a serious weak point (the TX-55 is brought down with multiple C4 charges at its feet. Metal Gear D is destroyed by hurling frag grenades at the knee joints), a flaw that is uncorrected until the development of Metal Gear REX. Even the later Metal Gear RAY can be disabled by firing Stinger missiles at its knee joints and Solidus is able to disable multiple RAY units with a submachine gun. The Shagohod, while technically not a Metal Gear, also has a similar (but not quite as fatal) flaw with its augers, as well as needing three miles of runway to launch its nuke. The ICBMG, a Metal Gear in name only, needs to be launched into the upper atmosphere to deliver its payload from low orbit, defeating the entire Metal Gear purpose. Sahelanthropus is literally unable to function without a psychic to control it. Arsenal Gear takes this trope up to eleven, as without a massive fleet of ships, troops, air support, and RAY units, it's a nothing but a huge target."

I just need the fuel, man

Kojima should have had his ass beat when he submitted the bike chase scene in MGS4 on big boss extreme.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 10:18 AM PST

I just want to get the big boss emblem man.

Gunner turrets everywhere that you have basically no chance of actually hitting with your puny tranq gun, Eva making awkward stops and slow turns so that the frogs get a nice long look at you, your best non lethal weapon, the solar gun is the only gun that doesn't get unlimited ammo. The saiga 12 would be great, but of course snake is too much of a coward to one hand it so you can't use it. The twin barrel shotgun can only fire both barrels at once so it's mostly useless...

This isn't even skill it's just hoping the enemy weapon spread is in your favor. If you get hit by a single gunner turret just go ahead and reset. Awful awful. I was an act 3 apologist until I had to do this cancer run.

If you play New Order's "Elegia" on Spotify, Skullface speech will be listed as lyrics.

How I imagine the genderbend version Metal Gear Solid

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 08:31 PM PST

I was just watching the new James bond movie and the scientist character looked reminded me of Sokolov and what's even funnier is the scientist is being forced to help the bad guys make stuff and James bond has to rescue the scientist from them, just like mgs3 :D

Am I the only one who hates the checkpoint system in this game?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 06:58 AM PST

Aside from other annoying things, the checkpoint is the worst thing in MGSV.

Why can't save the game manually? The game doesn't even tell you when it's going to trigger a checkpoint. If I get spotted in an enemy outpost (OUTPOST, not GUARD POST, I don't mind if I get spotted in a guard post because they're all weak and there a few enemies around) it's so frustrating because I played this game for being stealthy.

If I accept the fact that I'm spotted and I engage, and try to attack the enemies, and I win, then it's not really a problem, but if I die, I'll have to restart from the checkpoint which is a long time ago.

I few days ago I fell from a high ground and die and I had to restart a long way back from the checkpont. Sometimes I get out of the outpost on purpose to trigger a checkpoint myself, but if I get spotted on the way, it's the same. It's also worse if I already fultoned a lot of soldiers. When I first play this game I was the type of guy who wants to play it perfectly undetected. If I got detected I would just restart from checkpoint. I'm not like that again now but still, sometimes this it just make me alt f4 the game.

I rarely see people complaining about this though.

Portable Ops is better that Peace Walker? ( Opinion thing/a lot of hate on Peace Walker ).

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 06:03 AM PST

Like, I not talking about the story and stuff, but controls in general.

I like a lot the old controls from 2/3, and PO not only have the game gameplay assets from 3, that works pretty well, the controls don't need to be heavily edited on the emulator, because they follow mostly the same controls from 3, making me just putting the equipament on r2 instead of circle, cqc on circle instead os square and the camera on the r-stick. The controls are fine and work pretty well.

PW in another hand needs to be heavily modify to work like a old MGS game in the shooter mode, making using the menus a hell on earth. If I put on action mode, the best mode because I don't need to heavily edit the controls and they are like the MGSPO controls, but I lose the option to change the camera side when aim, making impossible to use advantage of the cover in stealth and combat, and I lose the possibility of quick changing the equipments at the same time I in fight, because for some stupid reason the game don't pause when I use the equipament menus, something that was in every Metal Gear ( not mgs, because even the msx pauses ) because of the somewhat "tank controls" ( that aren't actually tank but a little stiff). I would be fine with the quickchange if they didn't had killed the camera change, because the camera change is locked it the equipment change, but because the equipament change is locked in a second menu were you choose if you want to change the equipment or weapon, you can't change the camera... hmm but like... WHY YOU DON'T PUT THE CAMERA CHANGE IN THE L1 IN THIS MODE KOJIMA?!? Like bro isn't hard... I can't be the only on that sees that? I'm the one getting crazy? Like why? But this is not even the worst, because there is a hutting mode, that have the equipaments and guns in different menus without the need of the second menu... BUT WHY THE CAMERA CHANGE DON'T WORK? So its not assigned to the equipments menus?!? They just didn't felt like and didn't putted the camera change in the modes?!? For fuck sake...

In the graphics PW is better, like its more complex and looks better, and feels better in the 20 fps mode, like PO feels better in 30 fps and 60 on the V4 patch and have less bugs, with most of the fps cheat bugs been fixed in the v4, but this would be the player going out of they ways to copy and paste codes that if some configurations ( like if you're using OpenGL instead of DirectX11 or 9 ) the cheat don't work, so I don't count that a win for PO.

The stealth mechanics in IMO are better in PO, because the game don't hype streamline the mechanichs like in PW, they just cut somethings like the kill in cqc, but maintains most of the mgs3 mechanichs that could be ported to the psp.

Man writing this I see that I just hate PW and that I really dislike the way they streamline the mechanichs, because in 4 and V the streamline and changes really work and don't conflict with the new mechanichs, but in PW it just feels a mess in my hand...

    Metal Gear Rising PS5 controller

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 11:39 AM PST

    Hey guys,

I played through MGR:R last year and used by Xbox One controller and it worked flawlessly. Since then, I've swapped it out for a PS5 Controller and noticed it doesn't natively work with MGR:R anymore.

I know you can get it working through Steam's built-in translation, but for some reason it's using Xbox control symbols rather than PS.

Anyone know how to get it working properly?
