Trying to reach msgv ending sequence

    Posted: 25 Nov 2021 10:34 PM PST

apparently theres an epilogue where I return to the hospital. however things wont progress past mission 43 or so. Ive completed almost all side ops along with a handful of extreme missions. I also frequently return back to mother base. Is there something Im missing to trigger the story progression?

The truth about Armstrong and Raiden.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2021 12:26 PM PST

For all of you who don't understand this fight, let me explain it to you in the simplest way possible:

Politics are complicated. So complicated, in fact, that it's possible for all sides to be simultaneously correct and incorrect at the same time.

Basically, whoever you side with in this fight is based on your own political ideology and your value for human life.

Raiden stands for morality, whilst Armstrong stands for the hard truth. Raiden sees through his logic, and sees a man that is weak. That is willing to kill whoever he wants in the name of his agenda, and probably even likely to go mad with power. Someone who bases his life, his principles, based on no sense of feeling or empathy, but cold hard fact-of-the-matter-ism.

Armstrong is a man who's sick of the America he lives in, like most Americans, and dreams of a perfect America. One where people are truly free from the tyranny of establishment and media having such a gross and dishonest stranglehold on the world. Through their testosterone-brimming conversations, he learns that Raiden and himself have a lot in common when it comes to the objectivity of each others' actions.

So really, it's up for the audience to decide. This is a brilliantly done boss fight that is equal parts awesome, funny, and profound.

    So, here's what I think:

I have to side with Raiden here, and please, let me explain why.

I liked listening to Armstrong talk. It felt almost cathartic. Like it was amazing to hear such drive and purpose towards a dream for the future of America. That's what America is supposed to be about, people like Armstrong that have a dream and a drive that they're passionate about, and I found myself agreeing with many of the things he was saying.

What I don't agree with, however, is obviously the means through which he wants to achieve his goals.

    Guys, he's fucking Joseph Stalin.

"I have a dream for a perfect country with a perfect system of government and society, and I will do anything to achieve it."

For example, killing millions of people that are too weak to contribute admirably to the whole of society.

That's why Raiden says he's insane. It's not because what he's saying doesn't make sense. It's because who he is is a weak individual who cares only about himself. You can't say "I'm not selfish" and then immediately follow that up with "There are tons of people who don't deserve to be alive because of my ideologies".

Raiden had to kill to survive. Armstrong wants to kill to feel better about the state of his country.

Armstrong is the embodiment of all of the political rage of the American people, manifested into the only thing that comes from rage: A weak individual putting on the facade of strength, when really he's just another angry guy that's lost all of his emotional control and gone full-dictator.

His goals inspire me, and I may even agree with them. But his means make me sick.

To me, the entire beauty of the human race is that we've been able to rise above the sad tale of natural selection, and it is inherently optimistic to want to drive against that which makes us animals.

Killing the weak members of the pack may be the easiest way, but it's not the right way.

If you die picking flowers I do not care

    Posted: 25 Nov 2021 12:39 AM PST

I usually care about my soldiers and don't like sending them out if theirs more than a 3% predicted loss, but I started reading what the dispatch missions actually were rather than just looking at what I'd be getting. How are my soldiers dying and losing vehicles picking flowers? I genuinely don't care at this point because if you die picking flowers that's your own fault

Showers and clothes changes are useless, he's blood soaked permanently, I've even shutdown my console, any fix?

    Edit: I'm a terrible person

Edit 2: went non lethal on one mission and now I'm clean, damn that's some fast redemption

Is MGS4 completely playable on Ps3 with an original Ps4 controller?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2021 10:33 AM PST

Hello people, I am using the Ps4 controller on my Ps3 and everything is working fine with most of the games. I am about to start MGS4 (already played 10 years ago...), and despite being listed within the "Dualshock 4 compatible games", I have some doubts since I remember it contains some parts when you have to shake the controller, or something similar. Do you guys can add some information about it? Please, can someone confirm/negate that the game is actually fully playable? Thanks in advance.

MGS themes applied to real life (GENE and MEMES)

    Posted: 25 Nov 2021 07:22 AM PST

Recently, I've been debating about having a "proper" family.

I have a girlfriend of many years and we're building our house. We usually talk often about our future and having children is one of our main subjects.

    We both love kids, we would like to eventually have them, but the cons are winning as of now: - the planet is in shambles; - it's expensive and taxing to have kids (depending on your economic balance); - many problems that can occur to both the mother and newborn (both mentally and physically, this one she knows best as a specialized nurse); - we will lose our lifestyle and could be angry/upset/depressed about it and ultimately blame it on the child; - we have many nephews and nieces, so the actual parenting is happening, and as such the passing of knowledge and ideals is already being done; - we both think that we don't want any kids, right now (we're both 31); - we could have a kid with extreme disabilities or being the evil incarnate and spread terror across this planet, and both would be immensely taxing to deal with;

And I agree with all of them. But a part of me has a bit of an existential crisis, as my side of the family will end with me, since I'm the only child. Both my parents have siblings, so in a way they will always be part of history, since some of my cousins already have kids, and the same happens with my girlfriend, but not so much for me.

And even though I know at some point I will be totally annihilated from both history and the planet either way, I feel less anguished to know I will be a father, grandfather or even great-grandfather to someone, instead of being just the "cool uncle that likes videogames" and passing my knowledge to someone who can really look up to me.

It seems I only have problems with having kids, but I will likely pass many MEMES to a new a generation (both the MEMES that are discussed in MGS2 and internet MEMES), but some of that information can be lost without the GENES, as I don't have a kid of my own. And it kinda scares me to know this stream of information will be completely lost, forever.

What do you guys think about this subject?
