Opinion/theory: Quiet's over-sexualized design exposes the hypocrisy in the player. Posted: 06 Oct 2021 04:03 PM PDT This was originally a reply to someone's comment, but I'm interested in seeing what other people's thoughts on this are. As a character who doesn't talk, the only reason the player would ever be interested in her (outside of being a completionist and wanting to see all the content the game has to offer) is due to her over-sexualized appearance, therefore objectifying her and treating her as nothing more than a mere abstract symbol of femininity, a pretty face to look at while sitting on the helicopter. But while the player might be fine with this and might see nothing wrong at first, he himself gets angry upon discovering during EP46: 'Truth: The Man Who Sold The World' that he too was objectified and treated as nothing more than a mere symbol with no substance of his own, no words of his own, and that just like Quiet, he was just a pretty face to put on the game cover. The two of them are removed from the story as soon as we discover their truth, the moment they stop being concepts, or 'legends', and become people. My interpretation of the game is that the reason Quiet is over-sexualized is to expose the hypocrisy on the player. Should the player not sexualize her and change their playthrough of the game by choosing to kill her at the start when they have the chance to do so, so too does their interpretation of the game change. mgsV's stealth system still hasn't been beat Posted: 06 Oct 2021 04:48 PM PDT I see reviews for the new Far Cry game, or the newest assassins creed, or COD, and i will never play them after being spoiled by this game. The enemies in MGSV, once alerted, wont just instantly home in on your location. Theres always more to stealth. You can set C4, and distract your enemies to the other side of the base, you can take out backup patrols (no infinitely spawning bad guys, you can snipe people to lure them to a booby trapped position. For me, it's a system that hasn't been replicated, and I get upset sometimes that no one in the games industry can figure out AI for soldiers [link] [comments]

MGSV: The Definitive Experience - $4.99 in the PS Store Posted: 06 Oct 2021 07:26 AM PDT Went back over the last day's posts and didn't see anyone shared this, but if they did… here it is again. MGSV is a measly $4.99 in the US PlayStation store. Words cannot express how good of a deal this is. Enjoy. [link] [comments]
I wonder if I'm getting to old to get excited about the potential for a new game Posted: 06 Oct 2021 09:44 AM PDT For all the kojima rumors and the bluebox conspiracy, I admit that it was fun to watch the puzzle play out, but I don't like the idea of being manipulated by their marketing. I actually am not excited at all whether there is a new silent hill/mgs remake/mgs game in the works. I sold all my collectibles and not looking to get more, somehow MGS is really about the games in my memory and in my possession, and where it goes from here has kind of died off. Then there is the aspect of gaming difficulty exceeding my ability to spend the hours to get good at it. People want more complex games, and I know people say MGS V is easy but I found it hard to learn, hard to get good enough to finish, and impossible to play online. I can't imagine what a more complicated game would feel like, which again points to maybe I reached the peak of my gaming abilities already at the MGS2/3 level. Similar things happened with Final Fantasy, a series I loved but then I got XV and felt like this isn't what I fell in love with. It started to feel like a series of complicated chores rather than a grand adventure. [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Oct 2021 05:19 PM PDT So I was trying to piece together the overall timeline or story behind the Metal Gear series and I am stuck upon something. Who is Venom Snake? Is he the original big boss or a clone of him? Tbh, TPP was the first game I played in the series which I never completed. I decided to play the first game and am now at the second. I don't mind if the answer is a spolier (if it is mentioned later in TPP) because this shit is so confusing lmao [link] [comments]
