    I have a question about MGS Legacy Collection, I'm hearing it contains all the games From Metal Gear up to MGS 4. I am also hearing that MGS 1 is a DLC code and if this is true, I'm going to have to buy it new as opposed to second hand aren't I?

    Steam summer sale is currently underway and I am thinking of buying MGS 5. Is it worth it? I've been playing mgs5 on xbox one for a while and I really enjoyed it.

    Recently, I have finished playing through series, in chronological order, with a friend. For the umpteenth time.The moment shared between Snake and Big Boss is beautiful.The scene always makes me cry. Every. Time. Do any of you feel this way? No matter how many times you beat the games or how long it has been... the ending... gets you straight in the heart? The feeling of everything coming together and ending is so powerful.

    Then in Rising you get to fight cyborgs and listen to rock :) which is pretty 🔥

    Why is playing the games in a chronological order frowned upon?

    Hey everyone. So far, i have finished Metal Gear 1, MGS 1, 2, 3, 5 and MGR:R. I am playing Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear 2 (no spoilers here, please), and i am going to play Peace Walker afterwards. Dunno if i will bother with Portable Ops, though i do have a PSP.

    Don't look at me that way. The reasons i have jumped all over the time frame is because some of those games are available on PC (my preferred platform), and others are not.

    Anyway, i don't really see why playing the games in the chronological order is looked down upon?

    The FAQ says that you risk getting yourself spoiled if you play it that way. How so? The only major thing i can think of is that the plot twist at the end of MGS 2 could potentially be a little bit less surprising if you've already played MGS 3, and learned about the Philosophers. Even then, there is nothing really major?

    Finally finished MG1

    I first tried to play MG1 (MSX) when Subsistence PS2 came out. I got impossibly stuck and it put me off the game completely. I finally decided to go back to it maybe 15 years later and finished it today. How anyone could finish it without a map is beyond me.

    I really do appreciate it for what it is now and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to start MG2 now.

    What was the point of introducing diamond dogs in mgsv? Why not just call it outer heaven?

    In GZ there was militaries San fronteires, and that was destroyed by XOF, so then why couldn't they rebuilt it calling it outer heaven?

    The metal gear manual implies that outer heaven has been around and developing for many years, before the rebellion begins and foxhound sends gray fox in. So what was the point of calling it mother base instead of outer heaven, and introducing a whole nother group name, diamond dogs, when they could have just called the whole thing outer heaven and bridged the gap?

    Voices of ocelot and big boss. Could it be intentional?

    As both of us know, big boss and ocelot both went from red blooded American sounding voices, to sort of British sounding voices. I am very stupid warning but I think maybe it's possible this was intentional. Since both of them would have been hanging around in South Africa for most of their time after the events of MGSV TPP. Maybe they picked up a slight accent.

    It has always been listed in the metal gear msx manual that outer heaven is in South Africa. So who knows maybe they ended up with a sort of South African/American hybrid-styled voice.

    MGS reference in Astral Chain (Nintendo Switch)

    I'm playing (and very much enjoying) Astral Chain by Platinum Games on the Switch, and I've encountered a drone companion currently known to me only as "strange drone" who sounds uncannily like Otacon, maybe a little younger. I looked up the VA and the voice actor is not Christopher Randolph, but the drone character's name is Hal! He seems to have a similar personality to Otacon and play a similar role, so I'm sure it's a reference. Searching online, nobody else seems to mention the VA sounding like Chris Randolph, but that's what clued me in first and I do believe the VA did his best Randolph impression.

    Also and perhaps coincidentally, the Hal in this game looks a lot like a cypher drone from MGS2. But on the other hand it is also reminiscent of having the Metal Gear Mk. II follow you around with Otacon speaking through it.

    Thought this was cool and wondered if others noticed it. Also, I recommend Astral Chain!
