A Humble Guide to Where You Can Find All The Metal Gear Games on today's game platforms.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 01:13 PM PDT

I just took a break from playing Snake Eater, and it dawned on me, Konami left the MGS Saga stale for about 5 years 5 FUCKING YEARS. The only thing they did after Survive was bringing MG, MGS1 and 2 to GOG, but that is it. Nothing else. It seems that their greed for mobile games and pachinkos makes them want to ignore their 2nd most popular IP which has higher success rates and has the potential to make more money than their stupid mobile market investments.

The MGS franchise is left in shambles and we cannot allow it to fade into the past if we are to preserve such a glorified game series that evaluates the reality of life and war like nothing before. We must keep it intact for future generations, so if Konami decides to revive Metal Gear, newcomers can easily figure out what the series is about without having to dig deep for old game consoles and old games that would be obsolete in their time.

With that speech out of the way, here is my humble guide to Where You Can Find Metal Gear Solid Games On Today's Game Platforms.

Please note that I will be listing only the games that are canon/close to canon, and that I will only be listing how to get them on recent platforms like PS3/4/5, XB360/1/Series X/S etc.

    1. Metal Gear:

    The very first one.

•You can find this one on the PS3 Legacy collection.

•It can also be found in MGS3 Subsistence's 2nd Disc, or in the menu of MGS3 HD Edition.

•Alternatively, should you choose to get the GOG port of MGS1, you can find Metal Gear under Special-->Previous Operations in MGS1's menu. If you wish to buy it separately, it's available as a standalone on GOG as well.

    1. Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake:

The sequel that added more depth to the broken relation between Solid Snake and Big Boss.

•Also available on PS3 Legacy Collection.

•This too can be found in MGS3 Subsistence's 2nd Disc, or in the menu of MGS3 HD Edition.

•Can also be found in MGS1'S menu in the GOG port.

    1. Metal Gear Solid:

The legendary game, which made the transition from 2D to 3D, and won praises and accolades from all over the world. Also known as MGS1 for ease of speech.

    •PS3 Legacy Collection.

•Should you have a PSVita, it's available there as well.

•Can be found on GOG, as stated previously.

•Also available in a few MGS collections for PS3.

    1. Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty

Another great game, offering a different perspective on the titular Solid Snake.

    •Legacy Collection for the PS3.

•Also available on GOG as Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance, which is a re-VAMPed (get it?) and revised edition of the original Sons of Liberty.

•Also available in a few PS3 collections and in the MGS HD Edition: 2&3 bundle from Xbox 360. This bundle can be played on Xbox One or Series X|S via backwards compatibility.

    1. Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater

Possibly Kojima's best MGS game to date.

•Available in the Legacy Collection as MGS3 Subsistence.

•Also available as standalone called MGS3 Subsistence.

•Available in a few collections on PS3 and in the HD Edition 2&3 for Xbox 360. Can be played via backwards compatibility as stated previously on new consoles.

•Also available on Nintendo 3DS and PSVita as Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D, though 3DS port is not recommended as framerate is terrible and graphics don't look too good.

    1. Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops

A short game released by Konami to give the fans something to crave over while MGS4 was being developed. Can be considered canon, but not fully.

    •PSP

    •PSVita

    1. Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots

The satisfying closure to the tale of an aged Solid Snake, and the tying up of plotholes and various other head-scratching canonicity problems.

Now this might be the only one people will have trouble with, because MGS4 really couldn't be ported to other consoles due to technical problems as well as it's architecture and the architecture of the console it was made for. As such, MGS4 remains as a pure PS3 exclusive and can only be played legally on the PS3. You may attempt to emulate it on PC, but your specs must be really strong, otherwise it won't come out very good.

    1. Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

A truly valiant game that deserved a numbered title, unlike V Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. This game expands on the building of Big Boss's mercenary army, and introduces a few new characters as well, whose importance is pressed on in The Phantom Pain.

    •Available on PSP and PSVITA

    •PS3 Legacy Collection

•Xbox 360, Backwards Compatibility available for One and Series X|S.

    1. Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain

The Two V Games that tell the tragic story of what happened after Peace Walker's MSF was established.

•These are the only two canonical games not available on the Legacy Collection, though they can be purchased separately on the PS3.

•Same goes for PS4, but if you want both the V games and all the DLCs, MGSV Definitive Experience is available for PS4.

•For Xbox 360, available as two separate games.

    • For Xbox One, same as PS4, Definitive Experience available as well.

•Also available on Steam as two separate games, Definitive Experience available as well on Steam.

And that concludes my guide on getting the Metal Gear Games. If there's anything I've missed out on, or made a factual error, be sure to let me know in the comments.

    Toodles!

EDIT: fixed the formatting. Damn Reddit.

What if David Hayter Voiced Solidus in Metal Gear Solid 2?

Venom Snake is probably the saddest player character in the world.

What is the shortest, but most meaningful way to answer the question, "What is Metal Gear Solid V about?"

    Posted: 24 May 2021 01:57 PM PDT

I can explain it, but I feel like it would take at least an hour. I'm curious if someone can do it in 5 minutes.

Hi everyone. I know these are hard to come by nowadays, but I'm looking for any play arts Kai MGS figures. If any of you are selling I would love to try to work out a deal... or if you know of a place besides eBay to buy them that would be awesome. Thanks!

    The Purification Tank in MGS2

    Posted: 24 May 2021 01:42 PM PDT

TLDR: Is it possible for a tank like this to exist in real life?

The encounter with Vamp in the Shell 2 core is one of my favorite boss battles in MGS2. The crazy moves Vamp pulls off, the fast pace action of the battle, but one thing that makes the fight stand out is the main hazard in the battle: The purification Tank.

Before the fight begins Vamp and in a codec call with Plissken/Otacon states that the water like substance below the platform is not seawater but a byproduct of microorganisms that are cleansing polluted water, because of the large amounts of oxygen being produce, the water's gravity becomes extremely light, removing buoyancy this making it impossible to float.

I find the idea of a tank with no buoyancy both scary and insane and the way they explain why it happens through some science without resorting to nanomachines makes it almost believable. So I am asking if it's possible to have a full tank with no buoyancy or is it just pure fiction?

Could It be a reference to Vamp or just a funny screamer, but its a really weird moment in the prologue

The amount of Metal Gear references and foreshadowing I'm seeing on my first SNATCHER playthrough made me think of you guys. Hopefully some of you never played it either and can watch along. Here's the playlist, I'm currently playing so I'll be uploading new videos regularly.

    Discussion about Laughting Octopus origins...

    Posted: 24 May 2021 12:41 PM PDT

After defeating her, Drebin 893 tell her backstory... she was a Scandinavian villager but a cult killed the villagers because they hated them... but why? Beauty & Beast unit is made by girls that lived in warzones during the 90s, Raging Raven is from Aceh, Indonesia ... so why not Yugoslavia instead for Laughting Octopus? She could have been a Croatian, Slovenian, Bosnian or Montenegrin that lived in a costal village... the Yugoslavian War was one of the worst conflict in the post-Cold War period.. what do you think? Would have been better if she was from Yugoslavia? That would have made her backstory more interesting and realistic in my opinion. What is your opinion about it?
