Can codec users only see each other during calls? Or can they always see each other? Posted: 19 May 2021 08:49 AM PDT It's weird that I've played MGS for about 2 years now, and I never really thought about how codecs even work. When I think about it, Campbell always talks to Snake as if he can see what he is doing, but this is only when you call him or he calls you. "You got a PSG-1? Hurry up and save Meryl". But then as the game over screen goes, you hear "Snake, what happened?" implying he doesn't see Snake die initially but can hear him scream. So, does that mean codec users can only see each other when a call is made, but they can always also at least hear each other? [link] [comments]
HELP - Metal Gear Solid V - Tips, tricks & support for a quite frustrated noob Posted: 19 May 2021 01:03 PM PDT First of all, let me start saying I love this series. It's one of my faves ever, since I played MGS in 1998. I've played all except 4 (but I've heard I'm not missing out) and yes - controversial opinion- I LOVE Death Stranding. I wasn't great at them but good enough and I enjoyed them greatly. I know I'm late to V but I'm finding it difficult to enjoy and I desperately want to like it. Lemme explain why. First of all, I'm finding traversal extremely clunky and frustrating. If you wanna go somewhere you never know if you're gonna be able to take a shortcut or something because the map does not do a great job at representing accessibility. Sometimes it seems perfectly reasonable that you could climb up there but guess what, ya can't. You gotta Turn Around as if summoned by Bonnie Tyler and end up using the roads, taking hours to get somewhere, getting discovered by random soldiers patrolling, etc. This might have to do with having played other games where traversal is enjoyable and I'm spoiled but I'm finding this one more cumbersome than it needs to. And don't get me started with the chopper. And the mandatory clunky horse controls. And above all, I'm feeling the actual game very difficult, or rather punishing. You wanna rescue the random dude from the side op. Get to the place, and there's 25 soldiers, (Guy on codec says it's not heavily guarded ans Im like, WHAT) many of which are impossible to spot, spend half an hour with the scope tagging them, studying everything trying to figure out where the prisoner could be, approach location, extract guards, and then out of nowhere another guard appears out of nowhere and spots me and i screwed up, get killed Even if I try to run cause they don't miss a shot and all progress lost. Back to the beginning again cauae the game only saves when crossing a checkpoint (and there's tons when traversing but not during ops or missions). i try to rush cause I've already seen the place and I don't wanna spend another hour studying the place and another soldier inside the building that wouldn't have been humanely possible to spot screws me AGAIN. Back at it again, avoid getting caught, get the prisoner, I'm ready to extract and ANOTHER GUARD OUT OF NOWHERE COMES THROUGH THE DOOR. WTF. That, when you don't spend hours trying to figure out where the objective can be. Please I need help I wanna like this game. All the comments I've read are like, oh get the dog to do this or use so and so Item, none of which are yet available at the point I am ( I just fought Quiet) Am I missing something? Doing something wrong? Also please, If you're gonna say something along the lines of Git gud, maybe you're bad at this game or what have you, save yourself the typing. I know I'm bad. 🥲 [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 May 2021 04:05 PM PDT I usually replay it about once a year, and besides my very first playthrough at launch I always turn off hud elements like tagged enemies (can still see them if I pull out my map), and reflex mode. And try to never resort to tranq sniping everything, last time I didn't even craft one. I also wanna do a no supply drop and no enhanced suppressors. And turn my brightness down so night is really dark. I like to try to do total stealth and S rank when I can but I don't reset if I get discovered unless I'm really wanting that total stealth for that mission. I like to play through mistakes in games. Obviously no OP stuff like optic camo, and limited supplies and fultons. I want it to feel like I'm scavenging the battlefield for ammo and explosives to get the job done like older games. What else should I do? Anything you do like this? [link] [comments]
Mgs has probably the most beautiful soundtrack of any gaming franchise ever made Posted: 19 May 2021 11:43 AM PDT I was listening to a compilation of the best 100 tracks of the series and when the Snake Eater ending song dropped, i got the feels ngl. [link] [comments]

Best way to play Peace Walker? Posted: 19 May 2021 11:33 AM PDT I'm close to finishing Snake Eater (Subisistence) on a PS 2 emulator for PC. I'm wondering what is the best way to play PW since that is the next chronologically (not planning on playing MPO right now). My options are: Emulated HD version that came out on ps3 with the RPCS 3 emulator on PC ---OR--- PSP emulator on my android phone since I have an android gamepad. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 May 2021 11:10 AM PDT Hey guys. I must admit I have never played this franchise before😅 I have always heard about it but never came around it. Could one of you please tell me a short resume what the franchise is about without spoiling it? [link] [comments]
The Importance of Camera Angles and MGS Posted: 19 May 2021 07:16 AM PDT So I've been thinking with all this talk of potential remakes or reboot for the franchise, about if the camera angles from the original games need be altered. A lot of people want this potential remake to take the Phantom Pain approach both in gameplay and freedom of camera. Initially I thought the same but as of late of been thinking what if the camera angles Kojima's choose as the series evolved played a purpose a bigger role. What if the camera angle chosen for each game played as much of a role as the plot themselves. In the franchise *limiting this only to main entries* as a whole the only games to have a large focus on infiltration are Metal Gear , Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid , and Solid 2, technically 3 but the third was less about infiltration and more about surviving in the wilderness. So I started thinking what if the camera was never meant to be directed behind the players back in the earlier games for that said reason. We all thought graphical limitations which might have been the reason yes, especially with the earliest titles from the msx era but what if they also had a reason for such at a story level. So I came up with this wonderful theory a few weeks ago. We never got to play the Solid Snake games through Solid Snakes eyes, we got to view it from the eyes of the villain's. The camera angle is fixed in Mg 1 and Mg 2 Solid Snake cause were Venom, and Big Boss watching Solid Snake Advance through the base and this is the same with MGS 1 were Liquid is the one watching are every move. The last game to use this is Metal Gear Solid 2 were it was the patriot's looking on are actions as we disrupted a simulation of the events that took place on Shadow Moses. Now theirs a slight issue with this theory and I am gonna take a moment to explain how this still holds true. The only other game not about infiltration of a base was MGS 3, originally Kojima wasn't going to use the previous camera angle but ended up having to. He rectified this in MGS 3 subsistence giving us a camera angle that was directly behind big boss at all times. So with this all said if a future remake happens for the franchise I feel they should keep the original camera angles as they were for I feel that was the very intent all along. Later games did away with it because the focus was no longer urban infiltration, and the fortified base design of old was did away with in later games. Hope you guys enjoyed my theory thanks. Why tf do mines not work in MGSV? Posted: 19 May 2021 02:44 PM PDT I'm trying to complete this stupid backup backdown mission on extreme but all my fucking mines don't activate. I put 2-3 down in a row to ensure that either the tank or the car with the prisoner activates them so i don't have to keep going across the maps but no they don't bloody activate!!?!? Why!?!? I look at the map and they just go over them and when i go to check on them they are still there. I even put them in the tire tracks and it still doesn't work when i'm finishing off the other tanks. It's starting to piss me off. What's going on? Am I using them incorrectly or is it just a stupid game mechanic ruining my experience., cause i'm fine using a launcher but i wanna use mines to quicken up the pace. [link] [comments]
Metal Gear Solid 1 - emulator vs Integral PC port? Posted: 19 May 2021 10:49 AM PDT I've been wondering what's the best way to play MGS 1 on PC - using an emulator or the improved PC port u/oxide-NL released on this sub? [link] [comments]
How does Dog Tags Viewer work in MGS2? Posted: 19 May 2021 10:40 AM PDT Hi, i need help, I just completed Tanker for the first time on very easy mode, but I missed two dog tags, I checked the Dog Tags Viewer and loaded my save, I wanted to achieve all dog tags in this difficulty, so I started again and collected the two dog tags I was missing and created a new save, so I go to the menu, load the new save, and then... i just have those 2 dog tags, and my old save has all dog tags except 2, so how do I complete my collection? Do I have to collect them all in one go? Then how do you get the dog tags in others difficulties? Overwriting the same save? [link] [comments] |
