    The End

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 12:59 PM PDT

In MGS3, if you're quick enough, you can snipe The End, removing his boss fight. but he also explodes, and in every playthrough, i ALWAYS get hit by the wheelchair wheel. Is this a scripted event?

MGSV makes Venom turn into the villain that he is in MG1 purely through game mechanics.

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 02:02 PM PDT

Bare with me, I interpreter it like this.

    1. Player begins playing the game, the Player wants to build up Diamond Dogs, so they proceed to non-lethaly take down all soldiers and begin to extract them.

    2. Player continues to do this, eventually they get the upgraded intel glasses and better non-lethals, the Player during this period basically never kills anyone because they notice that they receive negative Heroism.

    3. Player gets introduced to FOB's, allowing them to get many elite soldiers without the need to fulton extract them.

    4. Player attempts to non-lethally invade FOB's, which works sometimes but it becomes apparent that killing the guards becomes easier.

    5. Player begins investing into lethal weaponry and proceeds to use them on both the FOB's and in the singleplayer.

    6. Player eventually comes to terms with it that it's easer to kill every guard instead of non-lethally taking them down, making them surrender and fulton extract them.

    7. Player notices that lethal weaponry have tons of customization that involves developing other lethal weaponry.

    8. Eventually the player develops all lethal weaponry to min-max customization of guns, and the overwhelming amount of the players arsenal is deadly.

    9. The player decides to make a Nuke, be it out of fear of retaliation due to FOB raids or any other reason, thus becoming Demon Snake, if they weren't already before.

Now, I can't tell if I'm actually onto something here or if I'm just talking out of my ass, but tell me what you think, if you even understand what I mean.

Trying to get into the series, where should I start?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 10:26 AM PDT

Also where should I play them? I've notice that there isn't a collection thing that contains all of the mailine games, so it's kinda confusing trying to understand what the best version of each game is.

    Quick question about mgs5 ending.

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 04:13 PM PDT

Are there multiple endings? Like good or bad? I've heard about Huey's and quiet's, but nothing about an actual ending besides mission 46. Could anyone brighten me up about this? Do I have to do something for an ending or something like that? I'm nearing the end of the game and I want to be sure just in case.

    The Quarantine platform demon cutscene.

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 03:49 PM PDT

There's something about this scene. It just seems to say something that even the player can't see. Just raw visceral torment, a twisted mind trying to comprehend its memories, make sense of who or what he is. Like when someone tries to imitate the world's greatest warrior but they aren't, they eventually view themselves as a twisted monster unable to fulfill their own goals

Keep in mind he's a medic, a man sworn to preserve and protect others, he didn't take the explosion for big boss, he did it because it's what he is at his core, a medic, a doctor, he would've thrown himself in front of anyone. Pure horror but horror on another level. Just love the sound at the end, no scream just the swelling of noise. Just amazing.

If this scene doesn't explain why the guy that brainwashed and forced a good man to kill is possibly a villain, I don't know if an on the nose story would do it justice. Big boss is a villain and his cruelest action was what he did to Venom Snake.

Five years later. MGSV. What do you guys think?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 02:48 PM PDT

I was thinking about it today after i realized that i haven't been able to finish MGSV again after trying to replay it. For how much i enjoyed the gameplay (which was amazing) and how the story was building up at the start, the world felt somewhat strangely empty with time passing and more and more it went on it just... died. i would even say it felt rushed but i'd say that it feels "incomplete" but not by design choice, but rather like Kojima wasn't really enjoying himself throughout the whole story and creation of the game, but was forced to do it.

The story itself felt to me at least meaningless and empty at some point, almost like it was this mass amount of information with tapes to back it up that just made less sense and just made points that made sense but not really. There was such a giant amount of wasted potential for the main villans, i was thinking about how Skullface was absolutely terrifying in GZ but literally a completely different power driven bafoon in Phantom Pain. There was no standoff with him, he just. Died. And the main cast moved on after "revenge".

The language strain virus could have been handled differently too, i wouldn't say it was that bad actually, but it was a very interesting concept to deal with for a part of the game that could have expanded maybe?

What about Eli? And how it just got presented as this bratty kid but at the end of the day was this formidable leader which never got an explanation of where he went or what happened to him? (yes i know about the cut content).

And i think the most disappointing ride was probably Quiet and her character development, it was very, sexualized. It made me feel very uncomfortable and it was clear to me that they tried to make this artificial relationship with her that never got anywhere because Venom just barely speaks or does anything outside of mumbling words and saying to his motherbase to do something. There was just backstory and we knew quiet, that's it. And then she was dropped and disappeared.

I wonder why they thought about this in the first place, like, is it just me or MGSV was just a incomplete and unsatisfying ride all over? It didn't feel like it had an end. I just remember as a teen during that time i was just impressed slightly about the twist but didn't really feel much about the story, hell i felt like they could have pulled off such a beautiful game but they just, didn't.

What do you guys think? I am not saying MGSV is pure garbage, i played all the MGS games so far (outside of the NES games) but i would not say that this one goes any close to games like MGS3 and my personal favourite MGS2. I am still scratching my head after MGSV, and i wonder if others think the same.
