Hello everybody! Did a bunch of cyborg designs recently. People on the forums said they could fit in this universe. What do you think?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 12:36 PM PST

Technology seems super lacking in MG1, MG2, and MGS1 compared to MGS5.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:08 PM PST

I love this series btw. I'm just stuck in an office rn with nothing better to do but to think.

Anyway, they're lucky that in MGS1 REX was designed by Otacon to have a flaw intentionally just like in an anime because otherwise Sahelanthropus would make REX look like dog shit.

It's funny that in MGS4 (2014) Snake has an iPod and in 1984 Big Boss had an iDroid. And yet in 1984 they still use cassettes. I wonder how "boring" MGS5 would have been if all of the technology was actually reminiscent of the 1980's and if Sahelanthropus was more like the basic ass Metal Gears from Metal Gear 1 and 2 on the MSX.

Thankfully they don't use codec in MGS5. That's one of the few things left that makes MGS1 and MGS2 seem more advanced other than stuff like Arsenal and RAY. And Vamp's nanomachines.

MGS3 even had those Star Wars esque flying guards in the 60's lmao. Almost 20 fucking years before Phantom Pain. I know those prototypes existed in real life and they were a massive failure, but apparently they worked well in the 60's in MGS3 so I'm surprised we never saw them again in Big Boss's time. I don't think they ever showed up again.

But yeah I'd say technology definitely takes a MASSIVE dive in Metal Gear 1 and 2 for obvious reasons. Just funny because shit was already getting advanced in the 60's in MGS3, way moreso by Phantom Pain, and then it just tanks in MG1 and MG2.

Hell, Raiden even uses a simple ass cingular era cell phone in MGS2. Lol.

Why does the boss have the FOX logo in GZ

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:01 PM PST

Was replaying through GZ and noticed that in the glorious opening cinematic after the XOF soldier throws the patches away the camera follows one as it falls and then pans to BB's shoulder and you can see the FOX unit's emblem on it. Wasn't the unit disbanded in the early 1970's?

Title edit: I meant Big Boss (Jack) not the boss (the joy)

Metal Gear Solid 5 and Vermon Cataffy (massive spoilers)

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:25 PM PST

    1. The V on the box art refers to Venom, which guess what? Sounds like Vermon.

    2. "V has come to."

    Vermon has come to.

    1. If you blurr your eyes, Vermon looks like Venom.

    2. You fight Vermon Cataffy in MG1 on the NES while Big Boss is on MSX. Vermon is Venom. The phantom.

V means 5, also means Peace, Victory, V for Venom, and V for Vermon Cataffy.

The only thing that disappoints me is that we never see Venom in the ending say "Call me Vermon..."

To mimic what Big Boss said at the end of Peace Walker. "Call me Big Boss..."

    https://metalgear.fandom.com/wiki/Vermon_CaTaffy

Edit: Reddit is fun likes to put 1, 2, 3, 4 as 1, 2 and then 1, 2 again and idk how to change it. Stupid feature if you ask me.

If you mention that the NES version isn't canon, no shit basically. It's not "canon" in the same way that Vermon/Venom isn't the real Big Boss.

NES, in Metal Gear, is the phantom "world." Phantom Outer Heaven (mother base), phantom Big Boss (Vermon/Venom), and it's also the phantom copy of the game.

Alright gamers, honest question, what’s stopping the creation of a coop MGSV mod?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 12:52 PM PST

Skyrim did it with their awful system code.

we already used to have MGSV online death match/vs and we already have MGSV FOB VS.

how hard could it be find a way through infinite heaven to get two players simultaneously on the same afghanistan map?
