- Haven't played in a while, but here's my Diamond Dogs crest
- I did it.
- So Kojima made MGS2 which is eerily relevant to today’s way of life, now he’s made Death Stranding which is very relevant to current affairs, is there something he knows that we don’t lol...
- Unpopular opinion: Metal Gear Solid 5 is the best game in the series and one of the best games ever made;
- Outer Haven (Tobacco jar, Japan, 1701-1800)
- A peace walker ad I found on a sports magazine I bought 10 years ago when I wae 5... Peace walker was also my firat mgs game
- I think this masterpiece has a better story than Peace Walker’s and Phantom Pain’s
- 405 kill run in mgs3. I am a psychopath. I stalked everyone and used the cqc throat slice to thin out the crowd. Was pretty fun. Beat on the psvita, btw
- Metal Gear 14: Quarantine Snake
- Ok I'm done here
- Has anyone picked this one up yet? The reviews I’ve read to far are... pretty good.
- Metal Gear 1 MSX tedious and frustrating?
- I WANT THAT MAN ALIV...... oh
- I just found out that you can explore the nomad during the briefings before each act in mgs4 .
- Anyone have any rare mgs collectables? (I have one still in its package.)
- How should I go on emulating MGS3?
- Anyone know about this Metal Gear x Hummer promotion?
- Already own Phantom Pain but want to get the definitive edition. Two questions. 1- Will it count as two separate games on my Xbox? 2- Can I carry over my progress?
- Naked Snake likes my CRT!

Posted: 20 Apr 2020 12:20 PM PDT Alright so first things first; the overall story. It sucks absolute fucking balls; Ground Zeroes has interesting set up for something possibly politically loaded and heavy, but TPP fucks that up massively by including Vulgan and Psycho Mantis; BUT the there's something I felt in the Phantom Pain I haven't felt in any other game; that's agency, I guess. This may largely be my own doing cuz I suck at base management, but the whole time that Mother Base staff was infected, people were dying; my recruits were dying, and I was tense as hell; that invested tension isn't present in any other game I've played; I was scrambling trying to stop the epidemic and the relief I felt after finding Code Talker was unreal; later on when I had to kill my own soldiers after Huey fucking up, that was also something that I was invested in cuz again, my recruits; also, when quiet disappears from the game I really am left with a phantom pain; Ik you can play to get her back but it's just not the same. In terms of the atmosphere of the story, I really appreciated the more serious and dark tone of it; being honest, the first 4 metal gear games and peace walker are campy guilty pleasure for me; the story, at least I don't think, is a masterpiece by any stretch; it's campy fun, especially the third one with it's James Bond spy-thriller-like story, but, it's not a masterpiece by any stretch; the atmosphere in TPP is dark and foreboding and that's what I think elevates the story from absolutely shit, to slightly tolerable; it still has those Bond elements, with the song and soundtrack, and the whole mystical sidekick thing(Code Talker). In a way, to quote Emmerich in the first game, the metal gear solid series is like "one of my Japanese animes". It's a convoluted mess, and while a fun guilty pleasure, I don't think they were that great to begin with, other than the third one, which has an actually good story; But let's talk about the Gameplay; this game is quite possibly the best game ever made in this regard. I just said the story sucked but the dynamic gameplay systems allow your to forge your own stories of war and glory which I absolutely loved; I have so many memories of the gameplay in this game more so than any other; and I think that's what separates games from films; partaking and affecting the story; that's why I like RPGs, that's why I like the Phantom Pain. Let's be honest, the other metal gear games are just long movies which give you some control here and there, interesting scenarios but how you play doesn't affect much in the end; there are like small things, like you have the opportunity to like the End before the sniper battle, but other than that, I can't recall anything; in that way they're like the uncharted games, except in Metal Gear the gameplay is at least more interesting; The most common criticism of gameplay is that there's a dominant strategy; Soo, I'm going to sound like an asshole for this probably, but this criticism comes from people who don't play the game as intended and mess with the systems; it'd be one thing if you can't get anywhere unless you tranq and fulton everyone, however I got RnD high enough to make the Serval and the Brennan without that strategy; I killed people and experimented. Another criticism that stems from this is with the side ops, which are repetitive as fuck. And I completely agree; but I mean of course you're not going to enjoy yourself if you just Fulton everyone. I mean I was calling in air strikes, going Rambo, sniping from a distance, etc etc... it makes the sideops way more fun; they're not meant to be tackled the same way ever time; in my opinion, the people who turn to that strategy I'd tranq and Fulton are just looking for the easiest way to play the game; which I think is not only bad for this game, but bad in all games; Another criticism; the bosses, which I'll also kindly disagree; let's go one by one; the first encounter with the Skulls, fucking hell, is it tense; you try and sneak by, and if you get discovered like me, it's a messy and scary scramble to get the fuck out of there. My heart was beating at like double speed when playing it; now for the Skulls encounter during the Honeybee mission; I'll admit, it's not noteworthy but it's not bad either; and now you have the choice to either run or kill them. The Quiet boss fight; I like the sniping mechanics in MGSV so this boss fight is one of my favorites in the series; moving around the ruins trying to find her with your binoculars and stuff, I found it as enjoyable as the End in mgs3. The skulls encounter in Traitor's Caravan is also super tense, especially if you did what I did and tried sneaking away from them and hiding under the truck; the Sniper Skulls, again, I think it's great; super tense; the only one I don't like is Metallic Archea, cuz you have relatively little freedom and it's monotonous and boring; but at least it's only a few minutes. Sahelanthropus is the best Metal Gear fight in the series, I loved it; The freedom you are offered just isn't offered in many other games; I mean I love splinter cell chaos theory, right, behind metal gear 5 it's my favorite stealth game; but you're usually limited to only a few paths where in MGSV there are near infinite ways to play one mission; S ranking is great and requires skill too, not saying it didn't in the others but it's different in this one since there are so many ways you can approach getting those S Ranks; you may discover ways that haven't been posted in the internet before or something like that; the optional objectives too are pretty great, it makes you approach missions in completely different ways; the sideops I mentioned before, and while Repetitive, they are enjoyable still when you wanna take a break from the main missions; Ultimately, MGSV is the best Metal Gear Solid game, the best stealth game, and one of the best games of all time: its not focused on fuckin Zero and the patriots "Lalilulelo" bullshit; it's my stories, the shit I pull off that makes it great; I'll end with a simple anecdote. It was a dark and stormy night, I decided to take on the op at Nova Braga airport where you rescue the two unlucky dogs; I dropped a Jeep smack dab in the middle of the camp, snuck my way up to the roof of the helipad building, then got the first guy; however one of the bodies gets discovered, base goes on alert; eventually I take too long and a helicopter shows up; I go and grab the other guy, nearly getting sorted by the helicopter and guards a few times; load them in the jeeps, get going, but then I get spotted and started getting shot at by every guy in sight; the helicopter starts following me and it's gunfire is right fuckin behind me, eventually, I jump out of the car, decided to come back for the prisoners later and deal with the helicopter; start firing my sniper at it; keep in mind I have d-dog so don't have quiet to help; I probably used all my ammo on it and called in a support chopper until it finally went down; probably a result of my piss-poor aim and being unprepared for a helicopter gear-wise; When it went down, my helicopter went to the nearest LZ, went to it and extracted the prisoners and got on the helicopter; in any other game, this would be scripted; not in TPP; that's why this game is one of the best gaming experiences out there if you play it right; Edit: Vulgan and Psycho Mantis don't make the story bad; I was tryna say them tryna connect it back to other games made it bad; [link] [comments]

Metal Gear 1 MSX tedious and frustrating? Posted: 20 Apr 2020 03:37 PM PDT Am I the only one who felt this way? I beat the game once before and try to replay this game and I felt that way. MG2:SS I quit very early due to the fact that the AI was a bit too smart for what Snake was capable of [link] [comments]

I just found out that you can explore the nomad during the briefings before each act in mgs4 . Posted: 20 Apr 2020 08:42 AM PDT Briefings generally start with that view where you can see one screen of cctv footage and the other screen of cinematics . Press the square button and now you should be controlling the Mk2 and see from it's perspective in the cctv screen and can control it with the same controls as during gameplay .
