Kaz and Venom Snake (about Solid Snake)

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 12:13 PM PST

I don't know if this was discussed anywhere on the forums or even here in reddit but I believe that Kazuhira Miller and Venom groomed Solid Snake to go up against the real Big Boss.

I interpreted MGSV as a betrayal of Big Boss, betraying those who are loyal to him, even Kaz.

When Kaz found out he was filled with rage knowing that Big Boss has abandoned him choosing to make plans with Ocelot rather than with him to save himself from the world.

"Big Boss can go to hell.. I'll make the phantom and his sons stronger to send him there, for that i'll keep playing my role." - Kazuhira Miller (the debriefing after credits)

When the truth was revealed to Venom Snake his base was already being infiltrated by Solid Snake. His whole base and everything he worked for on the ditch because of this young man (Solid Snake), trained by Kazuhira Miller himself. Outer Heaven was nothing but a proving ground for Solid Snake, a test of skill if you may. Venom Snake knew it and he was the final challenge. If Solid Snake couldn't defeat him then he could not defeat the real Big Boss.

You might say Venom didn't hate Big Boss for using him but let's put ourselves into his shoes. He discovers his whole life was a lie or at least his whole time as Big Boss was a lie. And besides between the two Big Bosses, Venom snake was more human and compassionate towards his soldiers. I bet he also remembered his comrades from MSF from when he was under Big Boss.

The only thing I couldn't piece together is why did Big Boss send Greyfox to his Phantom. I guess maybe you can help me fill it out.

Now this is only MY interpretation but you can also post your own interpretation or if you can add something to support my interpretation you're welcome to do so. Also, please excuse my english and sentences if it's a bit confusing. English is not my native language.

    Struggles with Controls and Aiming

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:24 PM PST

So I beat mgs 1 a few days ago, terrible, legitimately painful controls, but I got through it and really enjoyed the story. I have now moved on to the second game and the first person aiming is atrocious, huge dead zones, I legitimately don't know how I'm expected to hit someone in the head with this tranq gun, it is SO HARD to aim with these sticks. Any help?

I hate the online resources in MGSV.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:05 PM PST

I'm about to start fresh, new game playthrough of MGSV, but for whatever ridiculous reason, online resources are preserved and don't get deleted. You see, shortly after the game launched, it received an update that makes a majority of your resources stored on a server, likely to "incentivize online play" or some nonsense.

I don't want those extra resources messing up the game balance, so I'm wasting all my resources before starting a new game. Given that I have a lot of resources, getting rid of them all is a colossal pain in the ass. The fastest way I've found to waste resources is deploying with an expensive loadout, spamming supply drops until I run out of GMP, and finally selling the resources I have until I have max GMP. Rinse and repeat.

"Well, you could just play offline, ya silly dingus". Yeah I could. But I want to transfer over my Ground Zeroes save data, and to do that, I need to be online. Don't want my 14 hours of 100%ing Ground Zeroes again to be wasted.

Oh, and here's something interesting I learned about offline/online GMP. When both online and offline GMP is at the maximum value and you blow away all of your GMP, your total GMP will never go below 0. This is because GMP spending will always take away from offline GMP, and the maximum negative GMP value is -25000000. Because 0 technically isn't a negative number according to the game, this allows you to infinitely use anything that uses GMP. Also, in my experience, if you have -25000000 offline GMP, the game doesn't balance out the offline/online GMP until the offline GMP is returned to a positive value, which is probably a bug but obnoxious nonetheless.

People hate on Konami because they were mean to Kojima, but honestly, people should also hate on Konami for screwing up MGSV with their online resource BS. Heck, the MGSV updates in general are garbage. They made the FOB mode a grindfest and introduced a bunch of weird bugs.

    Should I get mgs4 on ps4?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:51 AM PST

I've played every single mgs game besides 4 and I loved them all. My least favorite would probably be 2 but that's not the point right now. I've been trying to get a copy of mgs4 but it's only on the ps3 which I don't really have the money to buy right now. I have a ps4 and it says that on the ad for PS Now that it has a remaster of mgs4. I was thinking about getting it but I remember hearing my friends saying that it was horrible quality. Should I still get it?

Should I bother with MGS V?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:12 AM PST

So after death stranding I decided to go back and play through metal gear. I had previous experience with the series, having played a decent bit of 1 and all of 3 when I was younger, some PW, and playing TPP upon its release (though I never finished it). Thankfully I didn't remember much about the story in any of them so I had a mostly blank slate.

So now, after playing MGS1,2,3 and 4 I of course kept pushing on with the series. I will say personally 3s story wasn't as emotionally impactful as it's often made out to be, it was sad but I wasn't invested too much in the boss as a character. I did like the rest pretty well, but still nothing as much as I love the cast of the solid snake games.

Also, for peace walker I ended up just reading up. I knew from playing before that it's basically a monster hunter type game and since I didn't have the HD collection or a device to play it on I didn't have any friends I could play through it with. I tried watch the movie version but I found the cutscenes to hurt my eyes and be hard to follow with the blank white backgrounds and rough artworks, they definetly don't work in longer than 5 minute bites. The story sounded pretty cool but of course I missed out on getting attached to any characters doing that.

Anyway, I'm just a bit after rescuing Kaz in TPP and am wondering is it worth playing through. The gameplay feels great, but so far the missions themselves aren't very interesting to me. My biggest problem comes down to me not really caring about any of the characters at all now. I know it's early on, and while I will be able to adjust to a different voice for snake, I hate the fact he's basically a mute. Kaz hasnt shown much personality yet and ocelot is also much dryer than before.

Will any of that improve? If it helps my preference in games probably goes 2>4>3=1, keep in mind I still love all of them.

How can I play the rest Metal Gear games on PC?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 11:20 AM PST

MGSV: TPP is the first Metal Gear game I've played and it really made me interested in the earlier. All of them are on PS or Nintendo consoles which I don't own so there isn't a way for me to play them there, so my question is, is there any kind of port of these games I could buy/download? Thanks!
