Just started MGV Ground Zero and I have questions

    Posted: 15 Feb 2022 10:26 PM PST

My first MGS, I watched Videos recapping the story up to now so i'm not completely lost, however, I have a few questions:

    - I'm playing on PS4, when I hit R2 and put the NPC to sleep (knockout), is there a way to neutralize them for good (ie: kill) without having to use my rifle? The Gun only shoots sleeping darts but I don't want these dudes waking up at all. I hit R2 but it just kicks them and not kill them. Don't I have a knife to slice their throat?

    - I love that you can pickup ammo and weapons off of the NPCs you neutralize, one was a Rifle with a flashlight and silencer. I figured out how to turn the flashlight off but the silencer isn't silent at all, or it;s not equipped?

Love the playability so far, very happy

thoughts on playing through metal gear solid series

    Posted: 15 Feb 2022 10:23 PM PST

is this a series you take seriously as profound art and storytelling? or is it just mindless fun? im not sure what to make of it, and tonally the series as a whole is all over the place.

1 and 2 werent that great gameplay wise or story wise, however they do have a certain charm to them, especially 1.

3 on the other hand plays like a good stealth game, and isnt as self indulgent as 2 with its story. however it doesnt hold up next to superior stealth titles like splinter cell or hitman that came out around the same time.

3 was my favourite game as a kid. and the story does hold up fairly well. not as good or interesting as i remember.

these games are fun, however its hard to take these games seriously as an adult. mostly because of its emphasis on storytelling and its desire to be taken seriously. on one level its attempting to be a profound story, yet is riddled with horrendous dialogue and overt sexism, that can only be taken seriously by a juvenile mind, yet attempts to tackle big ideas, yet never seems to tackle them in a way that is intellectually insightful like decent sci fi movies or novels do.

im yet to replay 4 which from memory was the worst storywise.

is this a series you take seriously as profound art and storytelling? or is it a more silly over the top japanese game like DMC or Bayonetta?

Any tips for the MGR platinum?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2022 11:54 PM PST

I'm trying to do the Platinum for MGR, but the VR missions are really doing a number on me. Any tips for some of them or is there really nothing I can do to make them a bit easier ?

I myself would very much like to a VR remake of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

I just got a ps2 tonight and thought I'd play one of my favorite games ever, metal gear solid, and I can't continue after I die

    Anyone ever have this issue?

Unable to complete metal gear rising

On the jetstream fight with no items to help me out, cannot parry for shit and honestly cannot beat the fight, is there a cheat code or something to make the fight easier? the healing items dont help either, I only get sam down to 13 percent before dying, just completely unfair, is there any way to make the fight easier?
