The more I know about MGSV’s plot the less I understand

I've beaten TPP twice and I had played GZ before but I never did a play through and actually listened to the tapes so I decided to do that to see if there was anything I had missed and gosh dang is there a lot more than I thought there would be.

There's a couple things regarding Huey that I am now confused about and I was hoping somebody would have some answers or explanations.

    1. At what point did Huey switch over the Skull Face's side?

In GZ, we learn that the only real reason Skull Face was interrogating Paz was to get to Zero. But he interrogated Chico to find out about MSF and mother base. Why would he need to do that if they were in contact with Huey?

And the other thing I'm confused about is just Huey and Strangelove in general.

What was Huey's motivation for killing Strangelove? Miller says it was for hiding Hal but that doesn't make sense to me because if he wanted to find his son he would want Strangelove alive so she could tell him.

In GZ Miller tells Snake that Strangelove left for vacation a week before the nuclear inspection without telling anyone. So she wasn't there when Huey was taken by the XOF. When did Skull Face nab her? Was she captured separately? If they both weren't allowed to leave while Skull Face had them making Sahelanthrupus how could Strangelove have hidden Hal from Huey?

And death by lack of food and water can take between 8 and 20 days. Wouldn't Skull Face want Strangelove alive? Shouldn't somebody have heard her cry's for help? Or was the pod soundproof, I don't remember.

I know the series ain't plot hole-less but I'm positive there still something im misunderstanding or missing or both that would help explain some of this.

Thanks in advance anyone able to clear this up for me.

Do the enemies AI only adapt to your playstyle when you're playing missions?

I'm aware that enemies in this game can adapt with your playstyle. I liked headshotting people and now I've been getting enemies with helmets. But I was thinking, do they only remember your playstyle when you're playing the missions? Or do they also adapt on your playstyle when free roaming?

Tried to get into it a couple years back but it didn't quite click.

I'm not a big fan of using controllers on pc. Unless that's the far far better option

Which is your preference? What would you recommend?
