    Awkward family photo

I caught my daughter (10 years old) playing mgs1 today. I played mgs1 when it first released.

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 01:30 PM PDT

My daughter is into old games. She loves the gameboy, mega drive and we bought her the mini Nintendo consoles. So I bought her an old playstation 2 for her birthday a few months ago.

She plays a lot of ssx tricky, Harry Potter, crash etc nothing too violent (I have nothing against her playing violent games). So today when I got home from work I went to talk to her about something and on the screen she paused it on the ninja fight.

I couldn't believe my eyes, the game I played back in 1999 and still play to this game (plus the other entries) was randomly on my daughter's screen.

Ps I told her I knew the game and no I didn't spoil it for her. If she likes it I will dig out my old copies of mgs2 and 3 sub.

Pps does anyone know if there is swearing in mgs1? (i remember there is a shit but nothing worse than that)

When exactly does the Truth Reveal cutscene take place?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 01:33 PM PDT

First of all we hear shooting in the beginning which many imply has to be solid snake going rambo on outer heaven but that doesn't make any sense cause we see that the logo in the back hasn't switched from diamond dogs yet (Also he ain't beating me)

Also when does the mirror punch scene happen, again the logo still hasn't switched so what the f is going on here? There are like three different timelines and events going on here among which the demon snake part has to be after mission 51 right...

Is there any book that explains the perspective of soldiers being disillusioned and nuclear deterrence etc such as what happens in metal gear?

Why Liquid says that the Pentagon's plan for Snake was successful in the torture room?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 04:00 PM PDT

I always thought that the moment in question was where Snake managed to get into contact with all members of FOXHOUND (Raven was inside a tank, though). FOXDIE's agenda seemed to include the Genome Soldiers as well, but none of them dies, and Snake probably didn't ran into every one of them.

    I need help

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 03:03 PM PDT

So I just beat the first metal gear solid game and MY first metal gear solid game and loved it, problem is I have no idea what I just played. It took a lot longer than it should have and would like a sort of recap/explanation of what I just played. Either a link or a description or whatever I'm just really confused.

My actual thoughts on Armstrongs dream

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 11:14 AM PDT

I believe Armstrong makes an admirable point. He certainly does not convey it in the most adequate of ways (remember, he doesn' t actually write his own speeches), but beneath his rough discourse there lies a pretty damn noble cause.

The crux of Armstrongs dream is to purge the weak and to build an America were only the strong shall thrive. At first this seems extremely cruel, but we need context to not misunderstand this senator, because, as Jack remarks, Armstrong lacks something we don't: memes; those of "the weak" more specifically.

After fretting over every egg, Saucy remarks that the weak are those without money, without food, those that live in such poor conditions that may turn to inhumane methods just to survive. Evidence to Jacks meme is supported throughout all of Metal Gear Rising, in the form of all the Desperado members we have slain, plus Raiden himself: orphan half french Mistral, fellow child soldier Monsoon, economically crippled Sundowner and even Sam, as shown in his dlc, where he was forced onto Desperado by Armstrong himself.

Not only that. You see, Raiden, just before fighting Monsoon, was exposed to a devastating reality check, where his believe that all Desperado cyborgs freely chose to be terrorists was debunked when he heard their thoughts. It was so intense that it triggered him, another weak one, to become strong by accepting his desire for pain, embracing his necessity to let it reap. It enabled him to elevate his morally grey dreams above his circumstance as a hero.

Armstrong does not believe that the weak are those that live under harsh circumstances. His meme of the weak is that they are those who let their hopes and dreams be crushed under those hard circumstances.

He also believes another thing, that the weak need help. He realizes that not all of the weak are superhuman killing machines like Jack; he understands that the inmense majority of them are humble civilians with shoes stained with taxes, threats and wars. This is why he wants to seize all power, because when he becomes the president he will also become the shoeshine that will keep war off his dear customers's shoes.

By becoming the Boss, he will enable the weak to become strong, he will let them fight for their dreams, to wage wars for their believes, not for money, not for oil, like the current pointless wars do.

Armstrong did not want to slay the weak, he wanted to slay what makes them weak. It is an idealistic dream, an unattainable one even, but it became a reality in his deathbed, as his worthy successor, Raiden, is in fact, a weak one who became strong.

Sons Of Liberty 20th Anniversary Retrospective

Is it just me or was Phantom Pain unfulfilling

    Posted: 04 Nov 2021 05:10 PM PDT

I feel like there were so many loose ends that were just left there. Eli still has Sahelanthropus (whether this was covered in later games I don't know). Even though Quiet took off into Afghanistan, I feel like they should at least clarify if she's okay or not? Overall, it just felt abruptly ended and super-short compared to other Metal Gear games I've played. I also feel like it didn't add much to the story? Yeah cool, it explained why there were two Big Bosses, and we got the whole skull face bit (which was also super short) but other than that it just felt like a filler episode and quickly thrown together.

    Baby big boss

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 09:29 AM PDT

Do know anything about big boss's parents or childhood or who what where was he raised, did the boss raise him? Was he an orphan? We know about liquids childhood in mgsv, and we know that solid snake went to a foster home, but what about big boss?
