    Before MGSV, what was the "canon" as to why there was a Big Boss in both of the original Metal Gear games?

    I've been a lifelong fan of Metal Gear, so this isn't an age thing for me. I just never really gave it much thought until doing another deep dive into some lore today.

    Obviously the lore now is that Venom Snake was the one in Metal Gear 1, then it was the actual Big Boss in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

    But before MGSV came out, was there a canon answer? Perhaps it was another thing where people just threw around their theories?

    Overall, I know this doesn't matter much but I'm still curious as to what you guys thought or knew at the time :)

    Is it just me or is the Afghanistan area much better than Africa?

    I'm not sure if it's just that it has more missions, or if it looks better or it's better designed, I just find myself spending the majority of time in Afghanistan. Maybe it has to do with the places you infiltrate: in Afghanistan, they're often more open, with more natural settings and only small houses. There are exceptions, of course, of really good maps in Africa like Kungenga mine, or the first village with the stranded ship, but for the most part Africa's biggest places are closed spaces like the Mansion, Nova Braga Airport or the oil refinery, and this game doesn't really feel well designed playing indoors, and they don't look very good to my eyes, at least not on par with the rest of the game. Let me know if you share my thoughts or if it's the other way around for you.

    So my R&D team consists of 55 members all with minimally an A for R&D. I have 10 other people int the waiting room with an A in R&D too. How do I fix this? Just upgrading the platform thingy? I can't upgrade it because my materials aren't processing enough, is there a way to make them process faster?

    Hey all,

    I hope this is the right place to post this question!

    My boyfriend is a die hard metal gear fan, and for Christmas, I'd very much like to give him a gift related to this franchise. He's very fond of the Seiko Wired LCD wristwatch from Phantom Pain, however; I am no millionaire, but rather a broke uni student, and cannot afford it.

    My question would be if anyone knows where to find a good, yet affordable replica of the watch? I'm willing to shell out some money for the watch, I simply do not have enough for an original - which is, without a doubt, really sad.

    I'd very much appreciate any kind of info or input. Thank you!

    Big Boss' transition from Mercenary to Foxhound

    Hello!

    Forgive me if my memory's not up to snuff on MG and MG2, but I have a question about Big Boss' transition from famous mercenary warlord to leader of Foxhound.

    IIRC, in Metal Gear it was a surprise to Snake that Big Boss was at the head of Outer Heaven - but I thought this was more or less public knowledge, given his history and his orders to Venom to carry on Big Boss' legacy there?

    Besides the question of how Big Boss regained control of FOXHOUND, how was Solid Snake taken by surprise that Big Boss was in control of Outer Heaven? Was he just that green?
