I have finally finished the entire Metal Gear Saga and what a ride it was. Here are my thoughts on the main games.

    Posted: 25 Sep 2021 08:47 AM PDT

    1. Metal Gear Solid (1998)- I don't know what to say about this game except that the ending theme was beautiful. The game sure show its age by today but I enjoyed it tho the final Liquid boss fight was some bs. I had to look up guides on how to beat him. The game sure shows it age but it's incredible how the gamedesign still holds up 8/10

    2. Metal Gear Solid 2 (Sons of Liberty) - Alright let me say this- I really really hated the bait and switch Kojima pulled. I didn't liked Raiden at all and when the twist came I was mad but I will still say that the tanker section is one of the most tightest and wonderfully crafted section I have ever played in a videogame. The meta commentary, the story, the game design everything just falls perfectly in place. The game is a masterpiece only deterred by Raiden bait and switch. 9/10

3.Metal Gear Solid 3( Snake Eater)- aka the best game of the franchise by far. I was sceptical of Big Boss at first because I knew he is a villain but seeing his downfall is heart wrenching. The gameplay still holds up- I like how detailed this game is- and oh good lord the opening was just a fuckin' banger. Snake Eater has to be the best Bond theme which is actually not a Bond theme. The boss fights are crazy good especially. The End, The Sorrow, The Fear. The gameplay is great especially the survival mechanics and the jungle theme is a nice change of pace. I will say this game is like a well oiled machine with every part small or big fulfilling its purpose. The ending is heartbreaking and the credit song is really good too. This game for me outdoes Mgs2 pretty handily and I feel this was the pinnacle of MGS saga as the rest of the games would fail to reach MGS 3 heights. I am stiiiiiiiil in a dreeeeam 11/10

    1. Metal Gear Solid 4 (Guns of the Patriots) - Alright I will say I found this game sort of weird like I honestly don't know how to describe this game. I liked the generational leap it was coming from MGS3 but Solid Snake even Old Snake is just not as good as Big Boss character wise. The microwave section was really good, the Ocelot boss fight was amazing but that is it? The game has way too many negatives than positives I feel. Too little gameplay and too much cutscenes has to be my major complaint. Going back to Shadow Mosses was cool but I don't know the game just don't do it for me. I tried liking it but I didn't. The story is okay and I didn't liked how Kojima tried to rush Solid Snake but the game still wraps up everything pretty nicely and BB meeting SS was amazing. Tho I had a feeling Kojima clearly favours Big Boss over Solid Snake. 8/10

    2. Metal Gear Rising- This game redeemed Raiden in my eyes. The OST is a fuckin' banger and the combat is clearly a cut better than the other mgs games ;) JetStream Sam, Armstrong really elevates this game even more and how can I forget the opening holy shit where Raiden slices open a giant metal gear and I was like woah wtf. This game has the most satisfying combat in any mgs game and the story is also pretty good. I never thought I would like Raiden but MGR gave me a tight slap and my opinion about him changed lol. 9/10

    3. Metal Gear Solid ( Ground Zeroes and V) - I will get hate but Ground Zeroes level design is miles better than of V. That level just has so much replay value. And I also liked the opening of that game plus the Here's to you that plays along it. Hideo Kojima music taste is just too good. GZ sure feels quite short but the game is incredibly well crafted and I will say it is the best level design in any of MGS games so far. Now onto V- the game feels really good in the opening hours but soon the novelty wears off and the game feels shallow and repetitive- I would say going open world was a mistake for MGS- the game should have been more like MGS2,3, GZ kind of level design. the open world feels empty- the missions are too easy with quiet and the game just feels unfinished. MGS5 has to be my least liked MGS game so far. Plus the story is really bad compared to other MGS games. This game so far is the weakest MGS game but that's not to say it does not have its merits- the gameplay is the best of the series only rivalled by MG Rising but sadly the gameplay is the only good thing about this game. 6/10

I also played Portable Ops, Peacewalker and Twin Snakes but I believe those only Peace Walker is worth playing because it fleshes out Big Boss story and has Heavens Divide ost- a soundtrack equal to Snake Eater.

TDLR:- Overall I would say the MGS series is incredible and Hideo Kojima truly created a masterpiece. Big Boss era and his games just like completely annihilate Solid Snake games plus BB has more interesting characters and BB himself has to be best character Kojima ever made. I liked Solid Snake but after playing MGS3 and MG:R he became my third fav character behind Big Boss and Raiden( Incredible how MG:R changed my opinion on this man lol) with Venom being my least favourite. MGS 3 is still the best MGS game but all the games are still worth playing to this day.

Also if you read all of this- YOU'RE PRETTY GOOD!

I'm starting to wonder if MGS V gameplay is similar to the golf / bowling experience

    Posted: 25 Sep 2021 04:17 PM PDT

Namely you could be playing a mission at an all time best, with a perfect score within reach, then have everything go down in flames on the last hole and negating everything you just worked on.

Just redid Hellbound trying to find the stupid poster - cleared out most of the base, ran out of tranq ammo and made an ill advised run across the open field where a sniper picked me off. The save is SO FAR AWAY that it's basically starting over from the front of the base.

On PC, do you need a certain account, other than Steam, to upload Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros save to be used in Phantom Pain?

Do you need to make something like a Konami account to upload save or is it just reliant on your Steam account?

I think found where Outer Heaven would be

    Posted: 25 Sep 2021 09:25 AM PDT

So we know that that it is 200 km or 124 miles north from Galzburg, South Africa which is in the southernmost tip of Africa which in reality is Cape Agulhas so after some calculating distances, i think I found at least the general area in which Outer Heaven is located and that is De Doorns, South Africa

But I still don't know for certain but I will continue looking into it

Looking for MGS collectors - need directions

    Posted: 25 Sep 2021 03:18 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

My first post in this subreddit. I played MGS on my PlayStation for years on end as a teen, and have played SoL and Snake Eater since. Always loved the series!

When I started working and making my own money, I bought the random game or anime related oddities that I couldn't afford when I was younger. Now I'm looking back and thinking some of these items should belong to more hardcore collectors. People that still devote themselves to the series and that would put more effort into displaying their love for it.

That's lead me to consider parting with a few MGS related items that seem to be quite rare and pricey. However, I'm not a huge fan of eBay (too many scammers) and would like to somehow get into contact with an established community of MGS collector, if such exist. I'm based in EU, which I know can make things more challenging.

A point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated! Be it subreddit, discord channel or somewhere else..

Thanks to everyone contributing! I wish you all the best and stay stealthy!
