My Metal Gear Solid V redemption Posted: 28 Sep 2021 12:50 PM PDT This is a long one so strap yourselves in. I grew up with metal gear games from a very early age and fell in love with them instantly (once I learned that circle was how you got through the menu anyway, I was 4 at the time). My first game was actually Metal Gear Solid 2 on the Playstation 2 and so for me I got to play as Solid Snake and Raiden without experiencing the bait and switch I learned of years later. Further along the line I got Metal Gear Solid 3 and the amazing story of that game only made me love the series even more. Me and my friends would constantly play MGS 2 & 3 every chance we got, sometimes even completing both multiple times in one sitting during a sleepover because we loved them that much and were so entertained by the stories they told. Bit by bit I added to my roster of metal gear games by adding peace walker, MGS1, MG1, MG2, MGR Revengeance, and the HD collection (of that counts). So when Metal Gear Solid V was first announced I was so excited. Actually it was more in line with as if I had just won the lottery. First we got ground zeroes and while it sucked that it was only a prologue I played the absolute hell out of it, I got my moneys worth and then some, after the disappointment of its shortness I began to get excited again about the amazing gameplay but in a much bigger setting, enter the phantom pain. Let me just say again that for me this game was the culmination of an entire childhood centred around the stealth adventures of a Snake to destroy a metal gear. However, upon completing the game I was left with a bad taste in my mouth and sheer disappointment had set in because the game I had pictured in my head being a masterpiece showcasing Big Boss's fall to villainy had not come true. Being rewarded for using non lethal techniques had left me annoyed and don't get me started on the reveal at the end. Gameplay was perfect throughout but I found that it was just way too easy by the end, once you have every enemy scanned in all you had to do was keep an eye on the silhouettes of the soldiers. Years later I decided to up the ante and play the whole game again but with new rules and they are as follows: -No markers, so no enemy silhouettes to look at through walls and you can't see markers you've put down, which makes you really use the iDroid alot, I mean you may as well use it. -No non-lethal weapons allowed so no stun guns or tranq guns. -Must take a non-lethal approach to missions, however if you're detected all bets are off and you can go lethal if you want -main weapon must be a shotgun of your choice, no suppressors for main or sidearm -no sneaking suits, fatigues only -all main missions must be played during the day on first playthrough, any time after that -any guard you want to Fulton away you must knock them out using CQC -no reflex mode These rules have made playing the game such a challenge for me and I'd highly recommend this way of playing to anyone looking for a new way to experience mgsv. I'm sure there must be some speed run already using these rules but for me this is just a bit of fun and it's made me fall in love with the game again. I'm still getting detected when I'm not careful but it's made me play it with a whole new outlook on encounters. I tried going back to the 'normal' way of playing and it just felt wrong to me. U haven't completed it yet with these new rules but so far I'm absolutely loving this game again. Edit: no idea this was all once solid piece, no pun intended, should be fixed now. Help finding a Metal Gear quote Posted: 28 Sep 2021 02:10 PM PDT So admittedly I've never played any of the games, but I remember there being a plot point in one of the games that the Metal Gear had to have a flaw that left the pilot exposed or something, in order to meet the designer's ideals of perfection. Does this actually happen in any of the games or am I thinking of something else? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Sep 2021 06:05 AM PDT I'm on a nostalgic second playthrough of MGS V, but I don't seem to understand why I'm killing enemies when I'm using a tranq pistol. I try not to kill during missions to get extra heroism or whatever, but yeah, sometimes it just kills them when i do a headshot. Any idea why? [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Sep 2021 05:15 AM PDT Just wanted to let people know UnMetal is on the playstation store finally... and it has a second trailer that is freaking hilarious, and it's all a slightly discounted psplus price 👍 [link] [comments]
Phantom Pain - Gear needed for "Rescue the Peacekeepers" Posted: 28 Sep 2021 03:41 AM PDT I'm wondering what gear I require for the dispatch mission "Rescue the Peacekeepers", it doesn't tell me the name of the battle gear I require or where to find one. What do I need? Can only seem to find people asking why they always fail it but not what we need. Cheers. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Sep 2021 02:43 PM PDT I understand that Xbox had a 50 achievement only policy back in the day; but it is quiet annoying that they cut them down. [link] [comments] |
