    Might be a controversial Opinion but I think whoever will make the next MG project should do what they want instead of what fans want.

    Because do you really think the franchise would have being what it is if the staff just did what fans wanted?

    Small fan service are fine but too much can be extremely inorganic and restricting the freedom of the devs.

    Even Kojima said so to his staff : "do the games you want without any preconceived ideas."

    I think the franchise just having remasters and remake would be an incredibly sad fate, as even Kojima was not a big fan of remake. His biggest wish was directly a main game without him, to have Metal Gear continuing by new generations of devs and fans over the years, as he even disliked spin offs (beside MGR) a bit due to this (he saw the spin offs as the staff delaying the inevitable aka continuing the franchise even without him)

    The franchise would lose all it's creativity if the staff are not able to do what they want and just are able to recreate what already exist. Just like how Kojima was able to, they should have the freedom too.

    So, what I've noticed is unlike a lot of protagonists the Snakes don't really trash talk opponents, they are usually extremely respectful to their opponents. Even when Naked Snake first dresses down Ocelot he does it out of respect for his skill. So the scene later when he starts actually seeming to mock Ocelot always struck me as odd. So, this is the explanation I came up with. First let's establish the situation, Snake has just beaten Ocelot, Ocelot has captured Eva, Snake heard several shots and finds the hostage situation while following them. So, first off Snake's line of, "You call that a mistake, well it wouldn't have happened if you weren't showing off." This I don't have as much of problem with as it feels more like Snake is ribbing Ocelot than trash talking. The line I always found weird was the, "You Don't have what it takes to kill me." That is very trash talky and cocky for Snake. So, here is my explanation and how I came to love the scene, A) Snake has to defuse the hostage situation and knows the best way to distract Ocelot is to pick at his pride, B) he isn't actually trash talking he's just stating the facts. You see, while Snake isn't a trash talker he is a professional and a firearms expert he counted Ocelot's shots, it's not some jab at his skill or will it's just a statement of fact, "You don't have what it takes (I.e. a loaded round) to kill me." I'm sure no one but me was bothered by this but maybe this will give someone else a greater appreciation for this scene like it did for me.

    I ABSOLUTELY despise that the canon ending of MGS1 is the one with Meryl.

    Don't get me wrong, I like that ending too. It's just, after seeing the way MGS2 and MGS4 play out, I ended up kinda wishing that the Otacon ending was the canon outcome of MGS1. I mean, it's mentioned a few times throughout the series that Snake and Otacon were the ONLY survivors of the Shadow Moses incident and then the Meryl ending ends up being canon somehow.

    Having the Otacon ending be the canonical result of Shadow Moses would've added more depth to Snake and Meryl's reunion later in Guns of the Patriots.
