    [Community Feedback Requested] Low-effort/repetitive posts

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 04:22 PM PDT

    Hi there everyone,

Recently there's been a few posts and comments stating some are displeased with some of the content that is approved that they see as "low-effort or repetitive." It's been a little bit since we, the mod team, have checked in with the community on what kind of content you want to be on the subreddit.

As some of you may remember, we've changed the "low-effort or repetitive content may be removed" criteria here and there based on community feedback. For example, we used to remove most meme/image macro posts except on Sundays (still love Drebin's Shitpost days here, thank you all lol) but have eased up on that a lot in response to the community wanting more content in these dry MGS news days. The basic idea is we don't want to be a team that dictates what gets posted here and what gets removed. That's up to you folks.

Some of the content that has been mentioned have been things like photos of boxart (ex: "Just about to dive into this masterpiece! [picture of MGS3]), posts of people's collections that are comprised of a handful of games from the series on a shelf, repetitive memes, "will there be another MGS?", "[poll] what's your favorite MGS?", etc.

Theres really several ways to go about stuff like this. Do you want more discussion focused content? We could have a day devoted to text only posts. Do you think there's a question like will there be a new game that is posted far too often? We can always add it to the FAQ and refer OP there like we try to do with things like what order to play the games. Are you tired of memes? We can always revisit the Sundays rule. Do you like things the way they are? Hey, makes our lives easier :p.

The only 2 cents I'll add as a mod is to consider there are still people picking up this series, there's not a ton of new content anyways these days coming from the news or anything. That and none of the posts I've mentioned do I necessarily have an opinion on myself.

Anyways, how do you feel things are going and is there anything you think needs updating or revisiting? We of course can't please everyone, but your feedback helps drive what the subreddit ultimately looks like.

    Thanks!

It's quite depressing knowing that this is the first PlayStation generation without a new Metal Gear planned or announced.

Guys… Do you think love can bloom, even on a battlefield?

Aside from a couple PS1 platformers, this is the only game I’ve ever done this on. Hope to see you again someday, Boss. V has come to.

MGSV: Some of the best gameplay I’ve ever experienced

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 11:11 AM PDT

Covid has had me crushing through a backlog of games - TLOU, Death Stranding, Cyberpunk, Doom, RDR2, Uncharted. Hell I even played through the entire Half Life series in VR. But I picked up MGSV a week or so ago and the gameplay has me totally hooked, even more so than those other games. Every side op is fun, the missions stay interesting (currently on 20), and the core mechanisms of gameplay seem almost perfect. From stealth to Fulton-ing to all the weapons and vehicles, I just love it.

In the game NeverDead, StrateLogic is mentioned. StrateLogic is the main enemy force of Metal Gear Acid 2 (which also was written and directed by Nojiri)

    Solid snake’s Character

I always see people calling him a "deconstruction" of a typical action hero character. I don't really understand this so is there a YouTube video or something explaining this and analyzing the games writing and solid snakes?
