Posted: 20 Jun 2021 01:45 PM PDT I know the original Metal Gear Solid is one of the greatest and most influential video games of all time since 1998 to this day, but why was the franchise's name changed? Wasn't it called simply "Metal Gear" before MGS1 came out? Why was "Solid" added? Was there any specific reason for that? [link] [comments]
What was Big Boss’ true turning point? Posted: 20 Jun 2021 09:39 AM PDT It's no secret that Big Boss slowly becomes corrupted in the prequel games after the Boss' death but I feel like his change from the end of PW/GZ to his short appearance in The Phantom Pain is a bit sudden. I believe in ground zeroes he's a bit more cold and distant but he still seems like Naked Snake (albeit a broken one), flash forward 9 years and he's talking with Ocelot about using the staff from the hospital he was in as meat shields, going along with using Venom as a double, and completely abandoning Kaz to be tortured by the soviets. What the hell happened? By the end of PW, he establishes the ideals by which he'll stand to build Outer Heaven but I don't think he was really "corrupted" yet. Was MSF's destruction the true tipping point for him? Or has he been this way since the end of Peace Walker or even before? [link] [comments]
