    what if MSF won?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2021 07:40 AM PDT

iam gessing the main reason why XOF won the mother base battle was becuse they put explosives on the platformes, so it would probably be hard to do a "what if story " for this, but what if MSF won the battle at mother base at the end of GZ?

Is snake eater a good place to start?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2021 01:08 PM PDT

I just beat Death Stranding and im massively stuck in tuluca prison on Silent Hill 2(made it that far without any guides, don't want to use one yet).

While i know MGS isn't really like those at all, I played a bit when I was a kid, and recognize that MGS can absolutely fill the Kojima-Shaped hole death stranding left in my gut.

I have a ps4, and psnow. I've always really wanted to get into MGS but don't know where to start, I've read somewhere that Snake Eater is, Chronologically, the first game. I also noticed it had an 8-bit version of mgs 1 in it? Is that the actual original title? I could have sworn I saw a version with ps1 looking graphics and a resident evil-style fixed camera tank control scheme.

I don't ever expect to truly understand the intricate chronology and story that is MGS, but I want to actually experience it, when i played it as a kid at my dad's house it was in small doses and too hard.

So I guess, just, is snake eater a decent place to start? Where would you suggest starting? How can i play rising, and mgs 2, the one with the profound speech at the end?

    Snake Eater’s major flaw...

    Posted: 13 Apr 2021 10:10 PM PDT

When I CQC The Boss into oblivion while I'm wearing the Croc Cap, I expect Snake to be wearing the Croc Cap in the next cutscene. I was prepared for the lolz and, needless to say, was denied said lolz. I humbly request that if MGS3 is ever remastered or remade, that this oversight is corrected. 9.9/10... mostly quality game.

So I played the HD Collection.

And I have to say, I'd rank the games Snake Eater>Sons of Liberty>Peace Walker.

And that surprises me, because I HAAAAAAATED the switch in perspective/controls that took place from Peace Walker to Sons of Liberty. I spent pretty much the entirety of Sons of Liberty wishing I was still playing Peace Walker, and waiting on the edge of my seat to get to Snake Eater. And I was NOT a fan of having to suffer through Raiden as the main protag for most of the game, especially given that Snake was RIGHT THERE.

But looking back on it, I think Sons of Liberty just stuck with me more than Peace Walker did. My attitude toward Peace Walker now is "welp, that happened". It's... got stealth segments. It's... got bosses. It's... got cutscenes. But none of them are as memorable as the stuff in Sons of Liberty or Snake Eater. Even the setting of the oil rig, which I annoying due to its complexity and the difficulty in getting from Point A to Point B, is in hindsight far superior to any of the bland-ass locations in Peace Walker. The only things I can really give Peace Walker are having a memorable ending sequence - despite the downgrade of cutscenes using stills - and increased replayability what with all those optional missions. But even the latter ends up being a flaw in its own right because yeah, I can fight the same battle against that tank a dozen times under slightly different circumstances, but do I really want to?

But anyway, can confirm that Snake Eater is far and away the best one. Blows the other two out of the water. Best in literally every way. And that finale! Everything from the Volgin boss fight onwards was just so badass, what a way to finish it.

What is the general consensus on "The Twin Snakes?"

    Posted: 14 Apr 2021 10:51 AM PDT

I can't tell if I'm in the minority for this or not but I do genuinely consider MGS: The Twin Snakes to be tied with MGS2 for my favourite Metal Gear games. I absolutely love how MGS2's engine plays and looks, and combining those aspects with the first game's story makes for a game I consider to be almost perfect. I understand a lot of the gripes with the cutscenes, and while I do agree that they are extremely goofy, they don't seem too out of place tonally in the grand scheme of things.

I was just wondering if anyone else genuinely enjoys this game, I rarely hear it mentioned and when it comes up in conversation it's usually with lukewarm reception. Am I just crazy for loving it?
