    Note: MGS V spoilers

    I picked up on something that I've not seen mentioned online. Most people talk about Huey killing Skull Face in terms of him being self-centred, or showing how taking revenge isn't cool and actually makes you look stupid because Huey is a dumbass.

    But the main meaning I picked up on, is this:

    Skull Face's entire premise is as follows - English is the language of imperialism and leads to cultures getting ground down. Skull Face wants to use the Metal Gear to scare the world into buying his weapons, so that they split off from one another, as well as using a parasite to kill English, so that each culture stands on its own. All the while, he wants every nation in the world to have nukes that he controls.

    The reason Diamond Dogs need to destroy Sahelanthropus is because if they don't, the world will be scared into a nuclear arms race and be consumed by bloodlust and hatred. They kill Skull Face to kill his ideology of revenge.

    Here comes the key reason why Huey kills Skull Face: the Boss and Miller think they have stopped the world being consumed by hate, and that they can finally rest. But no matter what they do, people like Huey are always going to be infected by the desire for revenge.

    This ties into the whole message of the end of the game: making the world a better place isn't that easy, and nothing you can do can fix the things you've lost. You think you've cured the parasite but it comes back worse. You can't just kill one person and expect to kill the entire ideology of revenge - after their huge campaign, the best they can say is that the world is no better or worse than before.

    Essentially, Huey represents the impossibility of Diamond Dogs' idealistic dream of destroying evil ideology - idiots like him will always rediscover them.

    Big Boss never heard Zero's final message.

    Big Boss lived the rest of his life believing Zero was a monster only to reach the same epiphany in 2014 that Zero came to in the late 1970s. Big Boss never got to hear Zero say goodbye.

    Because of Skull Face they were never able to reconcile.

    And Zero never got to know that Venom killed Skull Face, the man that kept Zero and Big Boss from reconciling.

    Skull Face's true victory is keeping Big Boss and Zero apart. If Big Boss and Zero had come together in the late 70s, then the Patriot system would have never been activated, and Big Boss would have never gone on to build Outer Heaven. Solid, Liquid, and Solidus might have ended up having a decent life.

    My first mgs game was Sons of Liberty (2002) and heres what I remember most about it.

    I got into mgs when my friend told me sons of liberty was the best game ever. I bought it from toys r us and fell in love. It was hard at first because of how complex the game was for a 12 year old. Learning how to use stealth, aiming, the long cutscenes. The one thing I remember most after all these years is........Olga's hairy armpits.
