    Why was Skullface the most evil, the most manipulative, and the most vile person in the cassette tapes in Ground Zeroes & The Phantom Pain but when you see him in person in The Phantom Pain, he's this mustache twirling villain with a silly mask? He is hard to take seriously lol.

    Edit: Skull Face looked scary in GZ (appearance wise) but that's about it. Yet, his appearance and how he acts on screen in TPP is hilarious. He's the mothafucking Hamburglar

    Anyone else really annoyed with with where Meryl ended up by the end of MGS 4?

    I don't know where else to randomly write my thoughts. So, I'm posting this here. I want to rant and just lay down what I wanna put down.

    After I finished MGS 4 years ago, I was annoyed with how Kojima shipped Meryl and Johnny (Diarrhea man) because how Meryl and Johnny was characterized in the series. But I soon came to accept it after a few years. In fact, I found it funny and heartwarming. These characters needed to have a happy ending after all they went through. I knew Old Snake wasn't going to work out with Meryl.

    Now that I finished recently finished my 2nd play through of all the mainline MGS games, I'm really damn annoyed on where Meryl ended up. Actually, I'm mad!

    Why the hell did she end up going for Johnny in MGS 4? Diarrehea man? It was obvious she couldn't end up with Snake due to differences. Snake x Meryl was not gonna work. . But Johnny x Meryl? What the hell Kojima! To drive the nail in the coffin, he even made their wedding scene a big part of the finale! It's screwed up. Kojima should have left Johnny and Meryl on a happy note at the end of MGS 4like more was to come instead of making them marry and have a big wedding. While they were getting married, Snake was about to kill himself at the graveyard! Kojima should have done the best thing (imo) and never wrote the romance between Meryl and Johnny in the first place. Meryl was a strong woman and then she suddenly fell in love with comic relief man with colon problems. Yes, Johnny saved her life but I'll state this. One of the worst parts of the whole franchise is is making Johnny a main character and making Meryl marry him. I would not have mind Meryl's romance if the love interest wasn't Johnny and possibly a more serious character. In fact, in MGS 1 there was something stated that Meryl was engineered not to be attracted to men and in MGS 4 she is breaking her fate by loving someone (she should have loved someone that's not Johnny). Kojima should have not involved Meryl in a romance subplot. Yes, Johnny became a bit of a badass in MGS 4 but he was still really silly and it felt forced. At least give Meryl a more serious love interest.

    There was also a missed opportunity from Solid Snake to give a speech to Meryl at the end of MGS 4 ( if I remember correctly). Solid Snake gave a heartfelt speech to Raiden. Even though everyone disliked Big Boss coming back, I liked that Big Boss came back to give a heartfelt speech to Solid Snake. Considering how Meryl views him as a mentor, how important Meryl was in the series, and how important Snake and Meryl's relationship were in MGS 1 and what they went through, Snake and Meryl together should have gotten a better send off in MGS 4. They did not need to get romantically involved, besides people grow apart and things don't always worked out. Plus, the age gap too and they are at different parts of their life. But Meryl and Snake should have been expanded more upon. There should have been a cutscene at the end where Snake passed the torch to Meryl.

    Despite MGS 4 being flawed in many aspects, I found it to be a great game even if it's a bit fanservicy. It's easy to contemplate on what should have happened and what not.

    Honestly, I don't even know why I got worked up by this.

    I feel that everything in the series whether you like it or not can be traced back to one thing.

    Kojima being Kojima.

    TL;DR:

    Meryl should have gotten a better send off in MGS 4 considering how important she was to in MGS 1 to Snake and the plot (and I guess MGS 4 too).

    She shouldn't have married Johnny or ended up with him. And Meryl should have never been involved with romance at all or fell in love with someone less cringy. A great thing would be for Kojima to never make Johnny a main character or never make Meryl love and marry Johnny.

    Snake should have had more important scenes with Meryl. They did not need to have a romance but something more important. Kojima should have had Snake passed the torch to her in the end like he did to Raiden with an important speech. For closure.
