Hey folks. We weren't initially going to make a statement due to the relative obscurity and small size of our community, but seeing as MGS is a series rooted deeply in politics, I think it's important to speak up.

As I'm sure most of you are aware, George Floyd, an unarmed black man, was recently murdered by police in Minneapolis when an officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. Three other officers stood idly by and watched as their colleague murdered Floyd, who spent his last moments pleading that he can't breathe.

/r/metalgearsolid stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and supports the protests that have sprung up against the issues of systemic racism and police brutality in the United States.

I'm sure you've all seen donation links and whatnot thrown around everywhere else online, so I'll mostly spare you the trouble. I personally recommend and support The Bail Project, which can be found at https://bailproject.org/. We applaud and support those of you who have been able to donate to any relevant charities, organizations, and bail funds.

Additionally, we fully support those of you who have chosen to take to the streets and protest. The only way we can make change is by organizing and demonstrating that we won't accept a status quo that allows for police officers to brutalize or murder innocent people or without any repercussions.

If you're unable to donate or protest, that's okay too. Talking to friends and family and educating yourself and others is a huge part of activism as well, and I'd like to extend my support to those of you who have been engaging in conversations with others or yourself that can often be difficult.

Aside from the donation links being passed around and the general sentiment of support, I'd like to also provide some further reading that I recommend for a better grasp on what's going on:

Reminder: Hate speech of ANY kind (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and more) will NOT be tolerated on /r/metalgearsolid and you will be banned if you violate this guideline. Hopefully I don't need to tell you all that.

Who is the voice actor for Pequod?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:16 AM PDT

I did a Google search for "Metal Gear Pequod voice actor," and the first result is Christopher Randolph (voice of Otacon and Huey). However, I don't see Christopher Randolph credited as Pequod in his IMDB or Wikipedia page. I suppose that COULD be his voice and that he's a man of many voices. But Pequod just doesn't sound like Christopher Randolph.

I realize Pequod is just a call sign of whoever's piloting that particular helicopter and that various people fill this role. It also sounds like Pequod is a different voice actor during the cut scenes than during the game. The voice from the cut scenes is deeper, gruffer, more Crispin Freeman-like.

But, like, who is the voice we hear for 99% of Pequod's dialogue? You know, the intense but friendly voice. "Cover fire! In hot!" "This is Pequod. Arriving shortly at LZ." "Rocket salvo!" "Be careful down there, boss." "Gaining altitude. Departing!" And the panic-inducing, "My extraction target is a no-show. Cannot risk waiting by the LZ any longer."

Seems like a lot of dialogue for someone to go uncredited or to only be credited as "Various soldiers."

    Thanks!

What’s you guys’ thoughts on the Beta version of Love Deterrence (which for some reason isn’t even mentioned on the TCRF page for Peace Walker)?

Is it normal to have so many more points? I don't understand multiplayer at all.

Did Peace Walker inspire the Nintendo Switch?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 03:18 PM PDT

I watched a youtube video a few days ago that made the claim that the "Transfarring" system from the port of MGS:PW was the inspiration for the Nintendo Switches home/portable design. I love MGS but the claim was such a leap that I havent stopped thinking about it. I tried doing to research today and couldn't find any information to back that up. I wish I could remember that video to link it here but sadly I cant. I really don't believe this theory myself but wondering if it has any truth to it or if it's just a baseless claim.

Was the Transfarring system what inspired Nintendo to make the Switch?

Would you have liked to see MGS4's original ending or you like it the way it is in the game?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 08:16 AM PDT

Metal Gear Solid 4's original planned ending by Hideo Kojima was to have Snake and Otacon both stand trial for "breaking the law", convicted and executed but his team protested that idea and so he had to scrap that ending and made another one.

So the question is, would you have liked to see that original ending instead or are you satisfied with the one we got in the final game?

    MGO PS4 Player Base situation

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:06 AM PDT

    Hey, guys!

I want to buy MGSV on PS4 to play MGO, but I want to know the current situation with the game's player base and count.

Is it easy to find enough players for a match? Are there enough players to progress or only try-hards and dedicated fans are playing (literally unplayable for newbies)?
