I just beat Metal Gear Solid 2 on Extreme! One of the hardest games I’ve ever beaten.

Did it for the Great Dane trophy. Working towards the platinum!

Does anyone remember the old school "Sigint is NOT the Darpa Chief" discussions? Lmfao

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 12:41 PM PDT

I remember on Gamefaqs, back in the Portable Ops days, one of the older members was angry and he said "Sigint is NOT the Darpa chief. Does every black character in MGS have to be related?"

Which is very valid. I didn't think Sigint was the Darpa Chief.

Then it turns out he is LMAO

Also a lot of people seem to call Sigint "Signit." which actually spells... Sign it.

I know the game has a lot of "supernatural" moments but Big Boss pushing up a Metal Gear with his arms

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 11:49 AM PDT

    Was straight fucking bullshit lol.

It's like he absorbed extra strength from his fanbase and got bigger muscles to push the metal gears crushing move off of him.

    That's fucking bullcrap.

Edit: I meant the games have

[Analysis] A great video analyzing the overreaching themes in the "Walkman" trilogy of MGS (PW, GZ, and PP) and their achievements.

For all MGSV PC players here, do you use a controller or a mouse and keyboard to play this game?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 07:09 AM PDT

I can't use anything else except the mouse and keyboard for this game. I need that precision...

Having only played Phantom Pain, I'm keen to dive deep into the lore of the series. What better place to start than with Metal Gear Solid itself?

The first time you chronogically see Snake in combat in the games, he gets beaten up by a woman.

I suck at making memes but I've always wanted to say this, since before this meme even existed.

MGS2 European Extreme is something else

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 03:09 PM PDT

I decided to try MGS2 on European Extreme and it took me an hour and a half to beat Olga, taking upwards of 50 continues. Then, I couldn't get past the guard rush after 10 tries and just rage quit there.

I decided to replay the Tanker on regular Extreme and got Olga stuck in a loop and beat her on my FIRST try with NO DAMAGE. Then, I beat the guard rush on my second attempt.

    SMH

Is Euro Extreme significantly harder than regular Extreme? I thought there were only minor differences, but my experience says otherwise.

In Portable Ops when you recruit members they'll still have their exact look and perform CQC

In Portable Ops when you recruit members they'll still have their exact look and perform CQC

It's quite cool that you can actually recruit the entire MGS 3 cast including the Codec crew, i believe Major Zero had to be inputted via password and the metal gear AC!D female characters were unlocked if you had a memory save on your PSP which i luckily had with my PSP 1000. (still waiting for Metal Gear Acid to pop up on that goddamn Playstation Store for my PS Vita) However newer operatives such as the female Ocelot unit's or Spetsnaz, female scientists, GRU Officers, Russian grunts and the new addition of the FOX Unit! This game had a lot of things to offer which is amazing including more maps to unlock to do more newer missions, there was a mission where you could recruit Raikov and you have a little codec conversation with him.

It was actually quite easy and unique how the uniforms of the characters within the game dictate what their good at, for example a scientist would either be good at R&D or Medic, i believe there were engineers in this game too that you can recruit, they can either make your ammunition and explosives, officers would either be good at fighting or most of the time be good spying in the spy section, and they can spot for you ammunition, medicine supplies or even secret missions to do in certain areas of the map. so it was quite easy to spot certain characters you want to recruit for your cause

The fact that the PSP manage to run the MGS 3 engine was pretty amazing, this game may have had flaws, but I've gotten used to the camera with the PSP, don't even know how i manage to have tolerance for it back then but it got a lot easier with the PS Vita with two sticks which i happily enjoyed playing again on a newer handheld. And the coolest thing was after beating the game and entering certain passwords you can play as the boss characters in portable ops and they all had unique mechanics and awesome stats. Portable Ops was a great joy in my heart and it's what introduced me to the metal gear series and its lore.

Did anyone else think you were gonna have to escort a wounded EVA in MGS4?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 01:31 PM PDT

I fucking seriously thought that since we went through a motorcycle chase like in MGS3 and EVA got wounded at the end (like in MGS3) that we were gonna have to escort her wounded in the fucking sewers. I was like God DAMN IT NO

But when the scene cut to Liquid by the boat, I was like God damn it THANK YOU.
