    The interesting hints in MGSVs hospital opening

    This is all really old..but I'm replaying TPP for the first time in 4 years so felt like commenting on this stuff

    In front of the hospital theres a statue of The Boss on her horse in her anorak type thing she wore in MGS3 over her sneaking suit and shes wielding a spear - looks so awesome, and along with the union jack flag you see the minute you wake up is a great early game hint about who it was who brought you to that hospital and who that hospital basically belongs to - Zero. That's if the doctor having a handgun wasnt suspicious enough. The doctor is most likely a Cipher agent, one 100% loyal to Zero - much as the previous doctor was, who you hear greeting Zero when he visits Snake in 1977.

    As youre waking up, there are two major hints about what's going on. The song 'the man who sold the world' is not the David Bowie original but the Midge Ure cover. And the star of Bethlehem flowers are moved from Big Boss's bed, to the Medics. The flowers symbolise the birth of the Big Boss legend, which is being passed to the medic/the player

    'Ishmael' is charismatic leader type who moves and acts exactly like the real Big Boss and is literally giving you a masterclass on stealth and onsite procurement. He's full of battlefield advice, which we know is Big Boss's whole schtick

    Big Boss calling himself Ishmael is kind of obvious. In Moby Dick, Ishmael is the narrator of the story but only a minor crewmember and character- with Ahab the central character and protagonist. In MGSV this will be Ahab/Venoms revenge tale with Big Boss taking a backseat. It's a shame the moby dick stuff was so surface level and didnt go any deeper than the names Ahab, Ishmael and Pequod to be honest

    If you stop and watch Ishmael take on the XOF soldiers after he gives you a gun, he is absurdly accurate - takes them out with one shot corner pop out headshots. Gee I wonder who this guy is??

    If you kill any of the XOF soldiers, Ishmael says "you're pretty good" - this was gold

    With the amount they put into the hospital opening to basically give the game away about the twist it's no wonder they make you replay the entire thing in mission 46!

    PS why does Volgin have his military uniform on when he first turns up?? Hahaha are we really meant to believe the Soviets put him into a brand new uniform when they recovered his near-death body

    PSS you can the see the moment that Venoms desperation to stay alive out of a thirst for revenge causes him to take over Mantis. And its fitting that it's a whale that mantis manifests to take out the chopper. Quite an obvious call back to Moby Dick and the whole revenge theme. XOF/Cipher is literally the whale to Venom's Ahab, the thing that took everything from him since he thinks hes Big Boss - and here he unknowingly is summoning a whale of his own to take something from XOF
