Posted: 13 Apr 2020 05:01 AM PDT After I played metal gear solid 2, 3 years ago, I found that it was a really great commentary on the news and the passage of truth and information today. More and more relevant with all the fake news and craziness on tv. Now that death stranding has come out I see all these insane parallels between the covid epidemic. Everyone is isolated and have to find ways to stay happy without human interaction. I just read a story that people are praising postal workers for doing their job through all this and people are buying stamps again to save that occupation. I dont know. Just thought it was a cool little thing. Maybe hideo has an ear to the ground with all this. Thanks for reading! [link] [comments]

[Minor Mission Spoiler] MGSV. My first MGS game. It was all fun until Hellbound mission. Posted: 13 Apr 2020 03:37 PM PDT My first MGS game, heard of the series but never actually played it. I'm also not a fan of stealth games. But I know how much MGS is praised, so I still wanted to try it. Found out that I have a PS Plus copy of the game and my journey has been commenced. The Prologue was superb. It was like an hour long episode of some sort of tv-show! The suspense, the wtf moments, the style.. top notch! Then, I touched open-world. Man, the game is huge. I like its style, base building etc.. All was good until Hellbound mission. By that time I already had around 14 hours in. So, you wanna tell me that I just spent 1 hour and 20 minutes of real life just to fail it in the end because I decided to "think out of the box" (the idea that the game itself propagates) and instead of looking for "some rock to hide behind so that a huge f*cking machine won't notice you", I decided to just proceed further the road, so "huge machine" won't catch me. After all of that it'd give me "you left mission area, Snake". Start from scratch, no checkpoints, no warnings about going out of the mission area, no screen saying "you're going to leave a mission area. IMPORTANT: returning to free roam. All the progress will be lost"... No, no nothing. You know what game? If you don't respect my time, then f*ck you. [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Apr 2020 08:23 AM PDT This'll be my first post on reddit, usually a lurker, but what happened in MGS:GZ kinda got me feeling empty and I want some form of solace. Im an early-mid 20's male, never played an MGS game before MGS:GZ and never really cared for Kojima and his works. I started playing MGSV - The definitive Edition just last week, after finishing up HZD (a much recent game). In order to grasp what the MGS world was about or at least get enough info to play MGSV/ MGS:GZ i listened to all the tapes and read the summarized backstory MGS:GZ had - this got me a bit of info on the characters (Boss, Kaz, Paz, Chico, Huey, Amanda, Cecile) - i spent ~2hrs on the GZ mission my first time around, I didn't bother going to Chico first even though that was the first objective cause i was trying to collect all the XOF patches on my very first playthrough - with the one patch being close to where Paz was being held, i ended up accidentally finding Paz first. I kinda figured Paz wasn't alive - with Kaz's briefing earlier, and seeing her motionless reassured that idea, when i do go for the rescue, Boss checks her vitals - again figured she was dead, but turns out she's alive and i was taken aback - i quickly carry her (all while she murmurs she's got something in her stomach - so she's rigged - back to the idea she wont live long) to the LZ and head for Chico. Watch the uncomfortable cut scene - the bombs out - i assumed id have a good hearty playthrough of TPP with Chico, Paz, Kaz, Strangeglove, Amanda, Cecile, etc. (since i never played MGS - i figured these were the MC's) as my team mates - then that ending which was a real sucker punch. I understand she was a double agent, but within the tapes - she slowly gets attached to the crew at MB, even going so far to sabotage ZEKE to prolong the strike on MB. Even while she was being tortured - she wanted Boss and MB to be safe (she had a change of heart). She'd also kept on repeating the phrase "to defy Cipher would mean a fate worse than death" - which was the reason she had no choice but to betray Boss. Even in her last moments, she understands if Skullface could take care of Zero - things could be better i.e. she was truly fearful of Zero and wanted best for MB and Boss "Paz: This will save Big Boss? Skull Face: It may. Paz: Will you really kill Zero for me?". And the tape where Skullface mentions the following "Skull Face: You shall not see triumph. You've been most helpful. And I have one last use for you. To you I give a magnificent end... But an end nonetheless. The final moment is yours. " These words struck me to my core. I want Paz to see triumph. It seems everything she did - the deception was done out of fear. As of right now, playing TPP just feels saddening, I played GZ for >20hrs listening to Paz's diary and Here's to you on repeat with most missions. In TPP ive been listening to Love deterrence at ad nauseam as an homage to the character's death. The caution signs with Paz on them is a bit comforting. I mentioned I just finished HZD which wasn't as emotionally scarring, but then agaan not a lot of media let alone games had me feeling this weird hopelessness before, just a few, Breaking Bad's ending, TLOU ending when the Home ost is played, GE:B (my very first JRPG), etc. I'm not an emotional dude (I've been told) for the most part - things don't really make me shed a tear easily, but GZ's ending almost had me crying - mainly cause of Paz. It's the only thing i can think of now - can't exercise peacefully, can't watch TV shows - I've had this before, but the issue is TPP is a long game, so it wont be as easily resolved as a movie/ TV show. I just started TPP and there's no real mention of Paz yet, Chico's death was mentioned in a tape (im at 3%) but without spoiling much would i get a fulfilling ending in regards to Paz? Would finishing TPP leave me feeling a bit better? I'm worried that Paz wasn't really a major character and thus won't be addressed well in TPP. [link] [comments]

Could someone answer some questions I have about the Skulls? Posted: 13 Apr 2020 08:20 AM PDT So, I have been thinking about the Skulls a lot recently and there were a few things that didn't add up. In the "Truth Records", it's stated that the Skulls were just highly trained Cipher agents who were deployed like Special forces/ However, there are a few things I don't get. Firstly, why do they act so zombified? And if it were because of the parasites, why doesn't Snake act this way using the parasite suit? Though it could be because the Cipher agents have the parasites inside them, but that's not really a good answer. Secondly, what about the size differences? While Armor skulls seem to be at least two feet taller than Snake (going off eyes), Mist skulls seem slightly shorter. And lastly, why do Invisibility skulls where such slutty clothes when they're special ops? And at the same time, could someone go into detail about how the Parasites work? [link] [comments]
Question RE: Big Boss and Major Zero (SPOILERS) Posted: 13 Apr 2020 03:00 PM PDT My understanding is that Big Boss turns against Major Zero after learning of the clones he made of Big Boss. Why then are Major Zero and Big Boss still friendly at the beginning of MGSV where Major Zero devises and carries out the plan to create the phantom of Big Boss (Venom) so that Big Boss can work on Outer Heaven? I dont understand why they are friendly when Big Boss left the Patriots because of the clones that Big Boss disapproved of.. [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Apr 2020 02:42 PM PDT Hey guys, so I'm playing The metal gear collection, and it's a very great game, it's old styles but knowing the new versions kinda help you imagine the games if they were new styles, anyway, I'm playing mgs1 and well, the more I switch between buildings the more I realize something, every building looks the same way!, So my question is Am I on the right track, or Am I just going back and forth between buildings, Thanks guys!
