Here’s a glitch that happened yet again. You need to be frame perfect to get this. Basically when Armstrong comes down at you, you yourself need to get hit but also you need to hit him to trigger the animation. You cannot use blade mode after because you’re “dead”

Finally finished MGS3 and personal retrospective of the series so far

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 04:12 AM PST

As a MG newbie, I took the time and effort within a 2 day span to finally complete MGS3, and oh boy that was an experience to behold. After 2, which I thought at first to be an amazing game, 3 for me takes the cake as the best Metal Gear ever, in terms of the challenge, mechanics like survival menu and camouflage adding into it, the story reaching emotional heights, like dude I cried to Snake/Big Boss killing The Boss, being his mentor in all and how much story it establishes in the MG timeline that I kept my eyes peeled for since 2, this atm is like the full MG package, until i play the remaining installments ofc.

I cannot believe I'm experiencing this amazing series right now, like idk why dude, I'd feel like I'd get slapped on face in the middle of the road. Back to the topic, I really love Metal Gear now, I like how dense the lore is and how it relates itself to American history as if an actual historian oversaw some accuracies. The stealth gameplay is a huge departure from most of the games that I played back then with all the action and survival horror genres, and while it is a bitch at first, I grown to get used to it over time and it gave me thrills more than any of those games by sneaking up on people. Solid Snake, Raiden, and Big Boss are badasses who gets fucked over by everyone and everything around them and it helped me delved more into their minds more than any other video game, like these people are actual human beings in an realistic setting. Each game is distinct in their own right, MGS1 is an espionage story about mechs and genes, MGS2 is a huge takedown on game culture and how we preserve it in general whilst overflow of information is into play, MGS3 is a Cold War-era espionage story about betrayal that made want to cry thinking about it.

In conclusion, I'm really happy i was finally able to play this in regard to it's legendary status within the gaming community. The amount of time and effort I put into this is quite monumental for me personally, like my damndest in a video game like I've never done before in comparison to something like Resident Evil, or Final Fantasy. You add in stealth gameplay, complex characters, long ass cutscenes, mechs coming from anime, political science and history, a huge amount of layers of exposition and exposition, you get these games, and they work their magic pretty goddamn well.

Sorry I just writing this at around 4 am and the syntax can look way off, but just can't contain the happiness and the newfound respect I have in this series and Hideo Kojima himself.

Just started experimenting with FOB invasions. There's a surprising number of 0 security platforms.

I can literally pick a 0 security platform, saunter through the empty oil rig into the core, and get a bunch of S rank personnel and a million GMP as a reward.

I'm not going to complain about the free real estate, but what the hell?

Big Boss was 15 years old?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 10:09 AM PST

    Hi guys.

There's something in Big Boss's timeline I'm hoping another fan could clarify for me. We're told that The Boss adopted BB as an apprentice when he was 15. Does this mean that BB joined the US military when he was 15 years old? How would this have been possible? I thought you needed to be 17 or 18 to join the military.

    Thank you.

this is like really early pre-alpha work in progress stuff. but what do you think?

part of what makes MGS1 is the expertly crafted pixel art textures. Other remakes have gone too far unreal engine looking with spark particle effects popping out of everything. I'd like the bluepoint shadow of the colossus treatment. With a strong focus on balancing maintaining the look and feel of the originals art direction with bringing the camera, controls, models polycount and texture resolution closer to modern gaming standards. Using the actual original texture files and 3d models as a starting point to lovingly rebuild the entire experience and then update it to pass on to the next generation.

I’ve played through all the games very recently and i have one question regarding ocelot.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 07:33 AM PST

Why is he so... idk normal? during the phantom pain?

Like he was a dramatic little shit in snake eater, and a dramatic old man in the rest of the game's he was in, but in TPP he's just chill as fck, was the 80s a relaxing time for him or something?

I have a question about the purpose of Solid Snakes mission in MGS

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 09:34 AM PST

In MG, Big Boss is the one who sends Solid Snake to "kill The Big Boss (Venom Snake) right?

    So the questions

1: Was Solid Snakes mission "to die" or "to kill Big Bosses double Venom snake to fake BB's death"

2: If the latter was the purpose, was Venom snake aware of his demise for Big Boss (as his loyal right hand) or was he u aware of BB's plan to fake his death using VS's death as a cover up.
