    Code Talker (Mission) Appreciation Post

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 09:59 AM PST

I just have to appreciate this part of the game. Leading up to mission 28, Mother Base is stricken with a mysterious disease, and Snake is on a race against time to find a cure. The private army that you spent the whole game creating is dying off, and although these missions aren't timed, you do feel the pressure. Mission 27, "Rescue the Intel Agent", works into the story as he has the information to find the mansion hidden in the jungle. That all works to set up the best mission in the game.

Mission 28, "Code Talker", begins with a sniper battle more intense than any boss battle before. You have the freedom to totally bypass it, too, but that has consequences of its own. After sneaking into the mansion, one of the most realized locations in the game, you rescue Code Talker. But this is just the beginning. The ex filtration of the target is filled with twists and turns, roving patrols, heavily armored guards, a helicopter, and an armored vehicle. If you bypassed the skulls snipers at the beginning of the mission, you now have to face off against them AND puppet soldiers, while escorting a hostage.

The following mission, 29, features an all-out battle against the skulls as you continue to exfiltrate Code Talker. SkullFace is doing everything in his power to keep you from getting this man, and you really feel it. These 3 missions, 27, 28, and 29 could be a movie in themselves, and it's really where this game deserves its 10/10.

It's just a shame that there's so much fallout from these missions. There's still some great moments after this, but the over-explanation of the parasites, metallic archea, and wolbacchia all put me to sleep. Do I really need to know about dinosaur nasal cavities and what they have to do with supernatural powers? No. But, all in all, this is what I would like to see more of in MGS6. The way this mission ties together gameplay and story is amazing and compelling. All I want, to this day, is more MGS like this!

I don't remember Snake Eater being this difficult

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 12:13 PM PST

I mean, going from MGS 2 to this one when it was new was significantly harder, but playing it again years later on the HD Collection has been an exercise in frustration.

I'm doing my best to do a no-kill run on Normal (although I already accidentally botched that at the warehouse docks), and have been out of mk22 suppressors since before the first Ocelot fight, meaning I have to try to get by with just CQC and hope not to be seen during the scuffle, or avoid conflict altogether, which is just as hard considering the enemies seem to have superhuman vision and can spot me from miles away, despite there being many times I was at 90-95% camo rating.

Is there something obvious that I'm missing or was I just better at video games back then? I think playing on the Xbox One doesn't help much either because it lacks the nuance and smoothness offered by the Playstation's pressure sensitive buttons, but I had no issue completing MGS 2 that way.

Revengeance’s OST is the best soundtrack in the entire series

    Posted: 15 Dec 2019 08:50 PM PST

I bought Revengeance yesterday and absolutely love the OST, and I personally consider it my favorite in the series. While themes like Snake Eater and Quiet's Theme are really good, the consistent bangers of Revengeance make me like its OST more. Do you agree with me? What's your favorite song in the series?

Does anyone have a 100% Peace Walker save for the PSP with the name James?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 07:46 AM PST

I know I know, but I deleted PPSSPP without backing up my save files. I could play the whole game again, buuuut... I dont have the time anymore. I'm starting my volunteer work today.
