Jack & The Boss [SPOILERS/ALL GAMES]

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 05:25 PM PDT

From the very beginning of MGS3 wherein Boss tries to emotionally prepare Jack via codec for his real mission (killing her), until her very last words to him before the last shot, Joy's love for her pupil still hits me so hard every time I replay the series. Even in the games she's not physically in, she's there.

In MGS3, every time they have a scene together, I can feel everything as if it was real. The chemistry between them it's on another whole level. It's not yet another silly portrayal of "normative love". It's real, it hurts. Their love talks about loyalty, even in betrayal. It talks about giving your everything. About loss. Their love's so strong that not even war has the power to overshadow it.

Joy does what she does not only because she believes in that small, blue Earth with no borders, but because she loves Jack, the person she put in the place of the child she never got the chance to raise.

Jack does what he does not only because he loved Joy, but because he started to believe too in that small, blue Earth with no borders that she never got the chance to show him.

Every step he takes after Joy's death is a grieving one, but still he doesn't give up hope. It hurts watching it all, not only everything that happens in MGS3, but everything that comes after; how Jack tries and tries and tries with every game and the world just twists everything up until he's done so much evil that he's not the same anymore... except for one thing.

His love towards Joy: her grave, her gun, her untouched blue world; the place where he could finally put himself to rest forever.

So, how do you feel about this? It is me, or do you find it so fucking hurtful and beautiful too?

Do You Think Kojima Will Return One Day?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 06:06 AM PDT

There have been plenty of threads about whether or not Konami will attempt another MGS at some point. I think that much is completely certain. It may not be in a way that we'd want, but as the executive guard change, someone will get the idea to milk some classic IPs. I don't think anyone thought Lucas would sell LucasFilm to Disney, but here we are.

    But what about Kojima?

My guess is that, someday, they'll ask him to come back on an advisory role. And honestly? I think he'd do it. I think if they asked him next year, he'd say no. But in 5-10? Definitely.

I think we can all agree his repeated claims of wanting to quit working on the franchise were definitely at odds with his inability to stay away from it. Nostalgia catches up with creators quite a bit and the ones who are completely done forever with their creations are exceptionally rare.

    What do you think?

How I discovered Metal gear solid

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 10:26 PM PDT

Metal gear solid is my favourite game ever. Yeah MGS3 is probably BETTER but i don't have as big a connection with it. When i was young my dad introduced me to video games, and since he only had M rated games and hockey, I was forced to 0lay hockey. One day, thank the lord, I was saved from NHL 2004 with lego Star wars. I loved it, and I watched my dad play his games if I could for a while after that. He only ever beat one game, MGS, which he beat before I was born (I'm 17 now). Although i did watch him start MGS2 and thought it was the news because the codecs looked real, and were boring as a kid. He stopped playing games as I started, and Later i got into retro games. I looked through my dads stuff, and through the piles of NHL, I found Metal Gear Solid. I played it on a ps2, and loved it. This was especially impactful after MGS1 because as I played through the games, I remembered seeing the game before. deja vu. Around this time it was revealed to me my dad had been kind of a jerk to my family, and as I played the games I related to solid snake a lot more, feeling forgotten and unwanted by my dad, playing through the same virtual missions he did before me. This is just a perspective on the games that's been on my mind forever so I wanted to share it. I could talk about these games forever, and I wish more kids from gen Z could play them, unfortunately, I've only met 3 kids ever that have played a game from the series, and its always snake eater. Still amazing, but MGS1 will always feel just a little more magical.

Would you prefer the next game to be 100% new or a remake (of any game)?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 08:34 AM PDT

I often do threads like this where i add a lot of possible answers, but to make things more "clear", i only have 2 answers for this one.

Just curious about what the community want. And heck, maybe a Konami employee will see this.

Playing MGSV: TPP and noticed diamonds on uniforms after mission 43

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 09:05 PM PDT

I was on my second playthrough and as i sat in the ACC i noticed that Snake's shoulder glinted like diamond stashes and as i looked closer i realized that there was in fact a diamond inserted under the DD logo. I assume that this is in reference to Venom saying that the ashes of the fallen would be turned into diamonds for the soldiers to take into battle after the massacre in mission 43. Cool little detail that makes this game have that extra bit of depth.

[MGSV] The game may not have been completed, but I will always love these two legends for giving me and us a truly cinematic and fucking awesome gaming experience. There aren't enough words to say how much I love what they made together
