Since Venom doesn't speak much in MGSV, would it be interesting and possible if a mod was made to replace his lines in cutscenes? There is already a mod that allows you to see DD soldiers in cutscenes, I think replacing the voice would be the cherry on top.

List of most of the (few) informations on the canceled game Metal Gear Solid Rising

    Posted: 13 Oct 2021 12:56 PM PDT

-Written by Etsu Tamari, directed by Mineshi Kimura, produced by Shigenobu Matsuyama and Yuji Korekado (Kojima was not main producer on the project, only an executive), main artist was Yoji Shinkawa

-Taking place between MGS2 and MGS4

-Acting as a new beginning for the franchise, game done with a sequel in mind

    -First FOX engine project

-Mostly was going to feature new characters, Returning veterans were Raiden, Sunny and Madnar

-Despite being set between MGS2 and MGS4, was going to be open to new players and not just fans.

-Story was fully written when canceled, was said to be "extremely dark" by a staff member who worked on it. Said staff member also considered the story "a Masterpiece and much better than MGR's story"

-Style of the game was going to be a bit different from the usual Kojima style, both ingame and in cutscenes.

-Boris from MGR was salvaged from this project, was going to fight with Raiden riding a GRAD (a lot of mech from the game were repurposed for MGR, same for the Mastiff)

-Game was an open world "similar to assassin's creed", Raiden was also going to act as an assassin all over the world

-Involved a Miami PMC, Area 51, Sunny's rescue, Raiden becoming a cyborg

-BladeWolf existed in the game but was a completely different character, much bigger (similar to crying wolf) and "controled by an human"

-Voice acting on the game had started before it being canceled, Quinton Flynn was NOT going to voice Raiden

-Blade mode was not just for enemies but also the map (which caused a lot of game design issues), usable for some puzzles

-Not a low-mid budget game like the other non Kojima games, was big budget

-Game was more action oriented but full stealth still was possible

-Non Lethal was encouraged as killing too much would make enemies horrified of Raiden and making the game harder

-Ability to cut the enemies weapons to disarm them

-Raiden was not the only cyborg of the game

-Raiden would change bodies as the story progress

-The game still would have some humor even if darker

-The game would have had less cutscenes than the usual Kojima games, focusing more on the gameplay parts

-Project initially started as a game featuring a new protagonist described as "Sam Fisher like", but the team used Raiden instead

-Dev team didn't wanted to cancel the game, game being remade still was considered a possiblity post MGR.

    [SPOILERS] What If...MGSV Mission 43

    Posted: 13 Oct 2021 08:18 AM PDT

There's a high chance this has been covered somewhere else, but I haven't seen it so I'm posting anyway.

As we know, in Mission 43: Shining Lights, Even in Death, there is an outbreak of mutated parasites on the quarantine platform of Mother Base. Venom goes in by himself to find out what happened and why contact with the MOPP 3 team and subsequent security team was lost. His primary objective is to find out who is/is not infected. He makes his way through the structure watching his men kill each other or writhe around suffering and eventually reaches the top where a scientist wearing night-vision goggles dies. Venom takes these goggles and can apparently see who is infected because the mutated strain causes increased "fever" in the throat where the parasites reside. Every last soldier in the quarantined structure is infected, *according to Venom*.

What if they weren't? What if there were some that weren't infected and Venom hallucinated seeing the "infection"? For one, night vision goggles shouldn't give the ability to see increased temperatures, even if modified. Light amplification doesn't work that way. Only an IR setup could give that kind of information.

It's highly suspicious that every single last soldier of that outbreak was infected. Huey's shouts during the sequence were extremely unnerving. Furthermore, I can see Ocelot and Miller brushing this under the rug for Venom to protect the all-important image of Big Boss. Taking the hallucination of Paz into account and it's depth/realism (even hallucinating ocelot and miller into the situation), then it's easy to think that this could happen all throughout the game and we just aren't told the truth.

What do you think? Is it a plausible theory or is there something I'm missing that would prove this logic wrong?

MGS 2 character question - spoiler

    Posted: 13 Oct 2021 02:52 PM PDT

Hey guys, I'm new here - I played the first one back in the day, a bit of PW and a bit of V but always ignored the story until now. Now I'm going through the series in release order and have a question.

Whne MGS 2 was first released was the story changing to a different main character (naimley raiden) a big twist? Like we're people expecting it leading up to the game and what was the reaction? I haven't finished the game yet but enjoying it so far!

Does Diamond Dogs become Outer Heaven or does it merge with it? Does it disband before 1995?

Also, what does Revolver Ocelot do during the Outer Heaven Uprising and the Zanzibar Land Disturbance?

Just Played MGSV Ground Zeroes !! My first Metal Gear game

    Posted: 13 Oct 2021 07:28 AM PDT

    SHARING MY FIRST EXPERIENCE

This is my first Metal Gear Solid game, so bear with me

I have spent some years hearing about the franchise ( mainly the whole KonamixHideo Kojima drama )

That being said, I have to say : The story is really exhilarating !!!! WOW

I have only played the first mission and the MECHANICS are the most refined.

My experience with games comes mainly from shooting and racing games ( COD and NFS )

The first cut-scene along with with the music immersed me into the lore and story

What a match made in heaven, XOF leaving a mark and then leaving the arena

As one of their badges drops next to Snake who immerges out of the shadows

Admittedly before this I was not a huge fan of the stealth genre BUT this was the most tactical and truly mind testing experience I have had

    Literally my mind :

    How to lure the guards

How to kill the guards and not get caught

How to access areas without alerting them

What to do to get more info on Paz's location

Is it safe to move along this route

I did not even entertain going in or out "guns blazing" as I knew that would compromise my success or hinder me from finishing the machine

30 mins into the game, my suppressor had diminished and boy did I panic.

The dead bodies I stacked up next to the tanks : were also continuously found

I convinced myself i was only going to play TPP, with it being the franchise' last entry and am slowly reconsidering that.

With that being said, I'll try to get my hands on Peace Walker ( Though I am dying of curiosity about TPP and want to be a Diamond Dog so quickly ).

    Thanks for reading Lads

EDIT : Most Def going to try the first installments

The Importance of Rose in MGS2

    Posted: 13 Oct 2021 07:24 AM PDT

Rose is probably one of the most hated characters in all of Metal Gear. Her constant nagging about April 30th and seemingly always finding ways to distract Raiden from his mission made fans hate her almost as much as their hate for Raiden. But what if I told you that Rose is one of the most important characters in Metal Gear Solid 2 and a key point in understanding MGS2.

Rose, unlike many other female characters in the Metal Gear franchise, is one of the most realistic of them all and is actually based off of real women that Kojima has had experience with. Most women in Metal Gear are often over-sexualized and are based off of Kojima's fantasies rather than actual experience. But Rose is different as she is based off of Kojima's past relationships and not some fantasy.

Rose's calls that seemingly "distract" Raiden from completing his mission is actually doing the complete opposite. Rose's job is to help Raiden complete his mission according to the simulation. Her calls give Raiden hope and encouragement to see his mission until the end. Rose keeps reminding Raiden of tomorrow to motivate him to survive no matter what. Actually Raiden wants to talk to Rose about things like April 30th and other seemingly "distracting" things as seen by the infamous codec call when Raiden and Rose reminisce about when they met at Federal Hall.

It's only when Rose wants Raiden to open up to her and talk about his past is when Raiden gets defensive and says that he better get back to the mission. Raiden's past is dark and he doesn't want to talk about it. Rose knows that Raiden's past is real and he shouldn't run away from it. Raiden is the physical representation of the player and in this case, Raiden is very relatable. Everybody has something about themselves that they don't want to talk about, because it makes them uncomfortable. Rose is telling the player through the guise of Raiden that you shouldn't run away from your problems and be open and talk about them. Unfortunately, many players who play MGS2 completely miss this detail, among other themes that the game is warning you about.

There are of course many other points I could make about the importance of Rose in MGS2. I want to make this post hopefully make people understand the importance of not taking things at face value and seeing things for what they truly are. That Rose is a very deep character and not just some annoying girlfriend that distracts Raiden on his mission. Kojima is no ordinary video game director and with each game he makes comes with a very important message to the people who play them. Understanding these themes and messages not only make it easier to understand the Metal Gear series, but ultimately make you see something within yourself that you may have never seen before.
