    I thought I should share my game Time Bandit with fans of MGS, as I recently released the free prologue chapter as a demo on Steam. The demo itself is meant to be a bit of a callback to the original MGS1 demo off of the old PS1 demo discs.

    Moreso than the gameplay, I'm really going for the whole feel of MGS1/2 - the aesthetic of MGS1 most obviously, but also the political intrigue of the story, the way it's told through cutscenes and especially radio conversations, and the sometimes over-the-top and melodramatic storytelling. I worked hard to put in a lot of radio calls that are context sensitive and include a huge range of gameplay hints, fictional worldbuilding, and nonfictional exposition, since that's something I loved especially in the original MGS trilogy. Really I have to credit MGS with significantly increasing my political awareness at the time that I played it, and the idea behind Time Bandit was to use similar storytelling and gameplay techniques to break immersion in the game and encourage reflection on political themes.

    Of course, this is its own game so there are a lot of unique elements, which may or may not appeal to classic MGS fans. For one, the whole game is built around experimental real-time mechanics where everything you do takes time. But even the idea behind this was related to the sort of fourth wall breaking mechanics you find in MGS, as I wanted to use the real-time mechanics to allow players to integrate the game into their real lives in a unique way.

    There's also stealth gameplay, although it doesn't actually feature in the demo, but would get introduced right after it ends as you start to steal back from the company you work for. The stealth is really based off of classic MGS1 - topdown and simple.

    I'd love to know what MGS fans think of the demo (controller recommended for the classic MGS feel). The game is still a work-in-progress so any feedback is appreciated :)

    Just realized GTAV has a Metal Gear Solid 1 (1998) easter egg. Humane Labs. You swim up through a cave underwater into a basement pool basically like in MGS 1 where you approach from a cave underwater. Thats cool af!

    What's the correlation between the amount of Drebin Points gained at the end of a run and your code name?

    So, I'm developing a game myself and became interested in the results screen of MGS 4 as an inspiration, but I don't understand exactly how the game rewards DP after a run is complete. Anyone can explain or has a doc/sheet explaining? Are there known equations?

    Anti-war themes in the framchise

    Im gonna do a presentation about the anti-war themes in the games, because; what better franchise to do it than this one?

    Do any of you have any ideas? Because i have the typical about child soldiers, the dangers of depending on the war economy, all that good stuff. But i need more, and more details (i have more info and all, but i didnt want to make the post too long)
