    Just got the plat for MGS2! So happy I’ve finally got there. Was quite a journey but fantastic game overall. The Extreme play through was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in gaming period. The MG rays were the worst, lost count how many hours it took just to beat them.

    Metal Gear moding community needs your help!

    Hi everyone, I'm a modder and member of the Modders Haven discord server, a community of MGS fans who want to make modding MGSV, and MGS as a whole, easier. Many parts of this entail reverse engineering aspects of Fox engine code or parts and that is where I'm going with this.

    Audio modding in MGSV is a hassle. Not because of the process of doing it but because the files aren't labelled. Basically all the files are mostly 7 digit numbers with not much organization.

    This is where this project comes into place.

    Essentially I have almost every common sound effect in the game in a file and we need everyone's help to identify which is which. We have an excel sheet that has the file name and a description of what we believe the sound is. So far I categorized about 145 of them as various combat sounds with a few dozen misc sounds.

    How does this work?

    Basically there is a google drive, within it is a program used to listen to sound file banks and the common bank of sound files, along with an excel sheet.

    The excel sheet has two columns right now since I suck at excel: a list of files and an empty column for a description such as "AMRS Silenced shot" or "Lethal headshot impact" for example.

    The idea is that people can identify a handful of sounds and slowly fill out the chart and the chart can be pinned to the MH discord and our accompanying MGS modding Wiki.

    Want to replace all gunshot sound effects with ones from Modern Warfare? Want to replace enemy screams with wilhelm screams? Want to make all guns make a fart sound effect when you shoot them? How about every time you step on metal or concrete you make the same sound effect that squidward does?

    If we succeed and identify as many sounds as possible we could effectively make it so the game uses Edd Ed n Eddy sound effects.

    How do I help?

    You do NOT need to own MGSV on PC to help, anyone can contribute.

    Inside are instructions, but it's very simple: create a folder on your desktop for this project, and download the "Ravioli tools" folder and the .bnk file in the other folder in the google drive and put both those items in the desktop folder. Run the "Ravioli explorer" and it will give you an option in the top left to open a file. Do that and click on the .bnk file and it will allow you to listen to most common sound effects in the game. So not cutscene dialogue or anything like that, but stuff like walk sound effects and other ones that are used in every mission and cutscene.

    If you hear a sound and recognize it, return to the drive folder and open the Excel sheet and write the description of what you think it is.

    If we do this and identify as many sounds as possible, not only will this effectively transform the ability to mod MGSV for sound, but it opens up meme potential as well. And we're all aware at how important memes are to this series.

    Even if you only ID one sound, it goes a long way.

    Not a plot hole per say but I feel like Volgin was too trusting of everyone around him. Even though eva, ocelot and the boss were suspicious af. He should have kept the philosophera legacy on him the whole time, not just hand it over to the boss.

    I am curious as to what is written underneath "THE ORANGE" on the cardboard box. Non official toys have "GOURMET QUALITY ORGANIC" written but this doesn't seem to match the in-game texture...

    Whoa. Whoever that was in my fob last night was literally the greatest trolling savant ever. I'm still pretty high which makes this story even sadder... Ok so it starts with me dropping through the wormhole. I turn on my nvg hit the nocto and blam dead. Ok??????? Maybe it was a glitch. Respawn and I get 40 m towards the core and blam! Sleep grenade. I'm out cold. Eyelids are opening and uh oh here comes the hand of jabooty followed by a 5 hit cqc knockout... Ok eyes are opening, I'm on my feet and here comes the hand of jabooty with a cqc knockout, again.

    This went on for 10 minutes. It ended when he got bored and threw me into the water like Emma emmerich.

    Oh and did I mention that he kept squatting on my forehead? Cuz I had the forehead squats.

    My frantic button mashing was no use as my miserably fried brain tried making sense of the situation. He moved like lightning and hit like thunder, hitting me with more grenades like a Chipotle toilet seat.

    Im not even mad. But I am pretty hungry.

    For me it's solid even though I've never played any of his games, I watched them on YouTube and he seems like the best snake in terms of idealogy and overall a hero in my opinion and he's went through so much (just as other snakes did) but his life was taken away from him by ppl who didn't even recognize him as human, they thought of him as a tool to do their dirty work and overall has suffered more than others, but in the whole franchise I'd say ocelot is the best good character.

    Sunny's Theme

    I played through that game 7 years ago and hardly a day has gone by where that song hasn't been on my mind. It's just so simple and sweet and such a central Theme throughout the game. It also helped me through that year of high school when I took chemistry.

    Maybe I'm just crazy, but have any of guys been whistling that tune for the last couple of years?

    OK so what I've realized during my second year of being an mgs fan is that the true fans of the mgs franchise are the smartest fucking big brain analyzing Chads who can detect any small detail in the game and write a whole essay about it that makes me go wow, so cheers to you mates.
