    This Game...

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 10:04 AM PDT

Metal Gear Solid has always touched me in a way that any other form of entertainment has not in the past. I started playing Metal Gear Solid when it came out. I remember one of my friends at the time got it and as a joke, he gave me disc 2 as a loan, but later to find out it would not work without the first disc. I was interested to see what it was like as a kid, so begged my mum to get it for me at the time.

Metal Gear Solid turned out to be my favorite game, even as a 7-8-year-old playing the games, something touched me about the game. I became obsessed, replaying the game over and over again.

I was obsessed for a long time, this game was absolutely everything to me.

After Metal Gear Solid V came out, I was left with.. well let's say a "phantom pain" on the whole series. I was expecting to see the whole story between Big Boss, The Les Enfants Terribles project to be told in front of our eyes, explaining Big Boss's story to create Outer Heaven.

It was the only Metal Gear game to disappoint me. However, years later after Metal Gear Solid V's release, I find myself drawn back into Metal Gear Solid. I can't help but feel Metal Gear Solid V was supposed to feel like phantom pain and there is something more to be told.

As an adult now exploring all the topics mentioned in this game, it is way ahead of its time. I'm wondering now why this game has such a big influence on me and why i keep coming back to it after all these years. Looking at the way the world is going today with AI's and Pandemics, I think Mr. Kojima wasn't far off from reality, and after replaying and diving into the lore, it is abundantly clear that Kojima sends this message throughout the games.

I love these games and I always will.

In what way have these games touched you in life? Why do you think you come back to these games?

Motosado Mori's Military History and MGS

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 02:59 PM PDT

Mori is the Mocap actor and military advisor for MGS, I have always wondered how much of MGS is a shadow of some life he lived in his youth

born 1964, military activity started in 1983....

" Born in Hiroshima, Japan, 1964. Roamed around the world at the age of 19. After battle experience in regional conflicts, he has participated in SWAT training instructions and the protection of the Dalai Lama 14th (Nobel Peace Prize winner) "

Some interesting finds about stories he made into mangas.

MGS: PEACE WALKER - PLATINUM. Kept you waiting huh?

How to deal with quiet Fob rushes? Possible cheaters?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 11:23 AM PDT

I have a lvl 50+ fob command fob that is getting invaded by a quiet Player who is Probably using infinite health cheats. The player was able to just use quiet and rush past snipers. I'm not sure how to deal with it. I also had a player just blaze through rank 7 lethal midrange fob like nothing. They keep getting destroyed when I set settings to nonlethal though. I'm not sure what to do. Which non lethal settings are best? I currently have it set to nonlethal close range. I have g7 air s, hopefully I will be able to deal with the invader.

I'm struggling too much with missions 21 listening task

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 11:08 AM PDT

I just can't do it, every time I get spotted I have to start all over again since they didn't put in any checkpoints, having to start from the beginning after loosing a ton of progress, having to wait for them to talk over and over just fail really annoyed me. Any help? I do have reflex on, but the moment I shoot someone(riot smg with silencer) someone comes to check it out and starts an alert, and then they stop the inspection. I have failed 12 times now, and almost broke my controller. I've seen videos of people doing it but I can't replicate it. Any help would be appreciated.

How does Peace Walker weapon level up work?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 09:47 AM PDT

It seems to be every individual rank of a weapon levels up independently to the other ranks of it.

Ex the M16 mark one can be level 3 while the mark 2 can still be level 1. Can anyone confirm?

    Old MSF motherbase.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 06:20 AM PDT

You know, this might be somewhat of a longshot to ask about.

But I was thinking - would it be possible for someone to recreate the old motherbase from post peace walker? You know, the large one that had a ton of platforms, including the old runway strip.

Does anyone want to get the vic vos trophy in peace walker on ps3?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 08:45 AM PDT

Does anyone want to go for it? It is a multiplayer trophy so two or more people are needed to get it.

I believe you can get it by fighting gear rex a few times (by knocking at out).

Mgs4 is making me feel weird.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 01:26 PM PDT

I started playing mgs 4 for the first time and I loved the first chapter. Nearly everything was perfect then the further I was into the game my opinion started to change, especially during chapter 3. I'm on chapter 4 and I feel weird about it. It's lacking something. For context I don't usually love the first time I play an mgs game, I thought mgs 3 and 2 were 7s at best but a year later after replaying them I think they're great. I couldn't stop thinking of mgs 2 during my time with mgs 4. The biggest reasons is that the game has to much action, I prefer stealth that's why I loved the chapter 1, it had a great balance of action and stealth. I'm also feeling a bit odd mentally over school so maybe that might play a part. Anybody been through something similar? Thanks.

Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake remake anyone?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 01:23 AM PDT

I see people constantly talking about a remake of Metal Gear Solid 1, yet no one mentions the very first 2 (canon) original titles.

Oh yeah... And in case you didn't know, Metal Gear Solid wasn't the first game (I'm assuming this isn't common knowledge because I hear zero mention of these earlier hames). So things things like Rex being a NEWER model of Metal Gear and knowing knowing Gray Fox wasn't just a out of nowhere info dump, this was continuity from these earlier games.

It would be cool to see these games completely redone in the Fox Engine. Though admittedly if people weren't already having issues with the weird tech advancement of the series, it will be even more screwy because of the fairly tame technology in these games, the TX-55 Metal Gear for example looks VASTLY less impressive than Sahelanthropus or even PW's AI weapons and ZEKE for that matter.

Maybe if we are unlucky we will get a pachinko remake of these games.

MGSV Spoilers: Skull Face's plan is scarily understandable

    Posted: 01 Apr 2021 10:09 PM PDT

Apologies if this has been talked about to death already, I'm new to the subreddit. I have been playing through MGSV for the second time, going slow and trying my best to understand what is happening because I was completely lost the first time.

I made it all the way to the encounter with skull face when you go on a LOOONG drive where he explains his scheme and...it honestly makes a lot of sense to me now. His plan revolves around revenge for having his mother language stripped from him as a boy, how he goes about it though is a bit convoluted yet brilliant.

He plans to use a breed of parasites to kill everyone who speaks English, destroying a language that has a relatively small number of native speakers compared to the massive number of people who have learned it later in life. By doing this he would destroy a language that bridges the divide between countless countries on every continent, creating chaos and confusion as already high tensions in the world cannot be communicated in the same way they once were.

This is where the other part of Skull Face's plan comes into play, creating a new language...one spoken with nukes instead of words. Giving every country, no matter how small or poor, the capability to launch nukes from mobile Metal Gears essentially forces the world into equality. With everyone nuclear capable and unable to speak the previously dominant language to de-escalate conflicts, they will all be in a mexican stand-off where no one wants to shoot first.

This brings deterrence, no one wants to get nuked so no one nukes anyone else, and thus you create peace from war while wiping out the concept of having one language to rule them all. To me, while being awful and terrifying, it makes a lot of sense for what he is trying to accomplish. While i do not agree with him or his actions, I can see how he would think it would work out better for the world.

If I missed anything please let me know, it's late where I am so I'm typing this up with a pretty tired mind lol

TL;DR: Skull Face's plan to destroy English and arm everyone with nukes shockingly makes sense to me upon a second playthrough.
