Peace Walker: The Darkness Beneath the Surface Posted: 02 Nov 2020 08:41 AM PST When I first played through Peace Walker, I was estates at the prospect of building my own military base and my own army. The only thing that made me feel something was off was that I was building my own nuclear platform. But after Metal Gear Solid V released and some complained how it didn't show Big Boss' downfall, I remember someone saying it already happened in Peace Walker. After that, I replayed Peace Walker and paid very close attention to everyone's actions and words. That's when I realized what they were talking about. Everything about the game was against Metal Gear's anti-war message. I'm not going to get on Big Boss leading a small band of mercenaries and offering his services to get by, but by him creating a private army for hire started to process of beginning of profitable war. The players forcibly kidnap soldiers to induct into their army, we support an uprising, and we build our own nuclear weapons platform: the ultimate Metal Gear sin. And the game seemingly tries to justify these actions. Fultoning enemies is hilarious to try to downplay the fact that your uprooting a person's life. Stealing a nuke is good for the environment and since the plot is told from the protagonist's perspective, some may try to want to emphasize their situation. Big Boss is finding his place in the world after Operation: Snake Eater and we don't want that taken away from him. After learning these things, I earned a greater appreciation for Peace Walker. Beneath its surface of character justifications, fun gameplay mechanics and man trying to avert a nuclear catastrophe is a game that is so subtle with showing how Big Boss is walking down the wrong path. TL;DR: Peace Walker actually shows Big Boss walking down the wrong path despite the game portraying him heroically on a surface level. But anyway I just had that on my chest for awhile and wanted to convey it somewhere. Sorry if it's already been said a million times. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Nov 2020 12:14 PM PST Just out of curiosity... Do you believe that the slight differences regarding CQC in GZ and TPP was a subtle form of foreshadowing towards the Venom Snake twist or were the developers using the year long gap between the two games to refine the mechanic. Or perhaps it has something to do with Venom's bionic arm. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Nov 2020 12:52 PM PST Hello all!! Anyone experienced and/or available to help me boost a couple of the PW online trophies? They're the last few I'll need for the platinum and I would figure whatever server is there is pretty much dead at this point. [link] [comments]

MGSV assorted ideas (some spoilers) Posted: 02 Nov 2020 03:17 PM PST being able to drag bodies, as well as the carry. sometimes i dont want to bring a body on a trip, i just want to bring them behind cover so i don't get spotted, but then i go through the whole pick-up animation where you can't move (why did they change that from GZ it was so good) and then the other soldier spots me anyway. Use the bionic arm as a bit of a shield. it's made of metal so you should be able to use it to block knife hits, or put it in front of your face so you don't suffer any headshots. of course as an electronic device it can take damage but its better to have one arm out of commission than to bleed out all full of bullets, and it would give more credence to the supply drops, as you can drop in new arms on the fly. a possibility for OSP. let us unequip primary weapons and secondary weapons the way we can unequip back weapons. also, put tranq guns in enemy bases, (im sure the soviet army sees some value in interrogating dushman, and PMCs love underhanded tactics like hostages, which is not possible with dead soldiers) and make soldiers have a chance to drop items as a "spit it out" possibility, like lethal and non-lethal grenades, ammo, maybe surpressors? maybe there's a mission bonus for starting without any items? just give kiefer 6 more lines, so he can say "speak" and "where are your friends" in russian and afrikaans, it would really do wonders for immersion. maybe this one is a little niche but if i were big boss, i would bring rope along so i could tie soldiers together and fulton multiple guys with one balloon. that's a little broken so how about more than 3 soldiers will cost 10,000, the same as a vehicle, which is also the main reason i use vehicles in this game. more car control. give us a handbrake for those sick drifts, and let us honk the horn for an alternative to dd's bark. also when i first got the game, i thought that cars would need fuel and that's what fuel resources were for, and i think that's an interesting idea worth exploring. this is a pretty small thing, but i think it would be cool to see intel team members in the field. they are supposed to be uberstealthy but so is big boss and if he can get caught then so can they. i'd love to tranq one of my guys, fulton him, and then miller calls in and says something like "why'd you do that, boss". add in combat stealth like mgs4. this is really big but this is just a dream list anyway. all the time in afghanistan we hear about the protracted war against the dushman guerrillas. i want to see some battles, maybe not in any random base during freeroam because that might kill the stealth, but make a few missions where you are in a battle, and not just an implied battle like mission 9. one time i told quiet to cover me in OKB zero while i stayed stealthy, and the enemy was in combat alert without me, and many of them had helmets so they weren't falling asleep, and it really was a lot of fun. for one, i can imagine getting stuff from lamar khaate palace while people are battling on the floor below me and i think that would be really cool. maybe you could even have to sway the battle sometimes. for instance, miller could call you and say "the battle is almost over, and you'll surely be caught if that division stops being distracted" then you'll have to snipe some russians while a timer starts, waiting for dushman reinforcements to arrive, and vice versa. that can even tie in to the war without end theme that the game loves so much. also, maybe there is a mission where a high-profile target is on the frontlines in the battle, and you have to make sure nobody kills them, and i think this mission would be great if it were in a map with corridors, where the target would only be being attacked by like 4 men at once. but getting spotted in an active combat zone would be an auto-death like the mgs2 tanker, because it's more men than an outpost, or something. maybe add in a few more singleplayer fob missions, like mission 22. they are supposed to be one of the main pillars of the game, but if you are offline, then you will probably not even know that. maybe some of them have also come into contact with the parasite, and you are trying to glean info on their experimental medications, or they are being controlled by cipher, or they could be related to outer heaven in some way (without saying it like that obviously), that last one could be presented so that you are none the wiser during your first playthrough, but then after mission 46, and a new playthrough, you see the signs and you're like "of COURSE that's big boss". why can't we visit the kids on mother base? just put in a silly little room, like quiet's cell or huey's lab. if you want to be especially interesting you can put a red jacket hanging above eli's bed. maybe there's some papers or something hidden under one of the beds with a picture of sahelanthropus on it to tease eli's plans. give big boss stuff like the helmets, gas masks, anything that enemy soldiers get. couple that with soldiers using gas like smoke grenades and such. if you have any thoughts, or other ideas i'd love to hear them [link] [comments]
