Do you remember how you felt the first time you played through the MGS games?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 02:14 PM PST

I am a small streamer, and I am playing through the mainline Metal Gear games for my fans. I have finished these games many times, but my fans have never seen them before, so I get the chance to see their raw reactions/first impressions for the games as I play through them. It brings me back to how I felt when I first played them over the years.

Do you remember how you felt when you first played through the Metal Gear series? The first time meeting the Cyborg Ninja? Liquid Snake's reveal? First time meeting Raiden? Hearing Solidus's monologue? Saving Sokolov? Fighting The Boss?

It really is something special getting to see someone's raw reactions to seeing the craziness of this series for the first time. Really reinforces my live for the series.

Is MGS2 kind of super difficult or is it yust me?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 10:33 AM PST

This is my second favorite game after 3 but i dont replay it nearly as much because of how frustrating it can be the guards can see you super easy, the reinforcements come in in like two seconds and delete your healthbar most off the boss fights are kind of super hard aswell especially vamp, rays and the harrier, guards come to wake up other guards when theyre not responding, the camera often works against you the enemies you cant see cant see you,on higer difficulties the struts are filled with cameras, that damn sniper section...

Is Peace Walker playable on Xbox one?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 04:08 PM PST

I played a little bit of MGS3 while it was on game pass awhile back and I just couldn't get very far. The aiming and just general controls were abhorrent and it was clear they didn't spend much time porting it as a backward compat. I'm wondering if Peace Walker suffers the same from anyone who's played it on Xbox One.

MGS3 Question: The End's Parrot + A Few Other Noob Concerns!

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 09:01 AM PST

    (Easter Egg-y Spoilers below)

So I was wondering if, when you either kill or capture/eat The End's Parrot, does it still appear in his death cutscene (asking for both the regular and old age deaths)? The game can be meticulous about cutscene details, like when EVA makes her waterfall entrance, so I was wondering if the same applied there?

I accidentally overwrote my pre-The End Fight save, and I haven't been able to find an answer on YouTube! It'd be weird if the bird still showed up to activate the microbomb despite being dead/captured.

Also, I hope some vets can help me out with a couple other questions I have: So, I'm playing SE for the first time, going for No Kills and No Alerts on Hard, and I was wondering...

    1. On SAVE FILES: I'm aware that choosing "Continue" retains any actions done prior for that playthrough, so I've been exiting and loading every time. However, the aqueduct was proving particularly troublesome for me (I try to avoid using the Tranq as much as possible, just as a little personal challenge, as well as avoiding even "non-kill count kills"), so I made a separate save where I could just choose "Continue" to be able to work out a strategy faster. Once I'd figured it out, I jumped back to my main "pure" save and deleted the dummy file. But because I've heard many horror stories about "phantom" kills/alerts, I'm paranoid that that "dummy" save could have "infected" my other saves with whatever alerts and kills I racked up while testing the area out. Is that possible? I'm just wary of how uncompromising the game can be, especially with things that inconvenience the player.
    2. On THE CAMERA: Not really a question, but I've also chosen to play exclusively with the original isometric camera, just because players beat it with just that option for a whole year before Subsistence came out. I have to say that while it's definitely an enemy in itself at some portions of the game, I am enjoying the way it forces you to use every resource and mechanic at your disposal, particularly for a No-Alert run. It's beautifully designed, IMO, despite its setbacks. I also like how it serves as a throwback to before every single video game became basically the same thing, and the same can be said for Snake Eater as a whole. I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same way?

P.S. As of writing, I've only ever played MGS 1 & 2 (+ Ghost Babel haha), and the reason I'm trying to approximate the original experience as much as I can is that when SE came out in 2004, it was a little too unforgiving, inaccessible, and frankly, refined for my then-14-year old brain, so I dropped it and the series as a whole without even completing Virtuous Mission.

It's been a black mark on me as a gamer for 16 years, and right now is my little redemption arc (playing Legacy Collection + V in timeline order, starting of course with 3) and yes, I recognize that SD resolution, an even more limited 4:3 aspect ratio for the isometric view, and PS2 loading times would have made SE even more difficult, but HD Collection is it for me. Loving this fantastic game so far ✌️
