Posted: 21 Jan 2020 12:33 PM PST Like the Liberian Civil War, Rhodesian Bush War, and the Angolan Civil War among others that, as an American, I never really knew about. Despite the fantastical elements, I respect that Kojima brought awareness to those conflicts. Helped to expand my history. [link] [comments]

[MGSV] Development times in single player question Posted: 21 Jan 2020 11:56 AM PST I just started up MGSV completely blind two days ago and whenever I had been developing new items in the R&D menu, they would complete instantly. However when I loaded up the game today, development timers are now 18 minutes for most stuff. Is it just the early stuff that's quick? I didn't see any sort of tutorial mentioning anything on this. Posted: 21 Jan 2020 08:19 AM PST You can bet that's exactly what I did back then. Kojima clearly knew just how frustrating that boss can be and so handily provided you a way out for you. [link] [comments]
Any MGS fans try out Generation Zero? Posted: 20 Jan 2020 09:44 PM PST I got invited by some friends to play this over the weekend. In short, the game is a loot driven survival FPS where you fight killer robots in the Swedish countryside. It's unpolished, kind of repetitive, and the story is... inconsequential? And yet... I got a few MG vibes playing it. The familiar robot/mech designs aside, you're essentially on-site procuring all your equipment. There's some light stealth, but the similarities really shine when you're firing rockets at a giant robot while your friend is peppering it with AP rounds and you realize "oh, I'm playing Peace Walker." The guns feel loud and good to shoot and there's some pretty good feedback when you hit an enemy from far away and see the smoke and sparks flying. The more boss-type enemies have a very Metal Gear style attack pattern, complete with machine gun fire that starts at the ground ahead of you so you can dodge out of the way and big volleys of missiles that send you running. I dunno, it's not a great game, but I also didn't have to pay for it. I just thought there were some fun similarities in terms of the boss gameplay that I haven't experienced in many games other than Metal Gear. [link] [comments]
Should I bother with the series being an xbox one owner? Posted: 20 Jan 2020 06:57 PM PST Besides Nintendo consoles, the only console I currently own is an Xbox one (I used to own a 360, but sold it when I was much younger, thinking that I wouldn't need it when I got my Xbox one.) I would like to get into metal gear, but the Xbox one cannot play many of the games. As far as I know, only 2, 3, 5, peace walker, and ground zero are available (despite being on the HD collection, 1 won't work on Xbox one.) Story is very important to me and I usually will only play games if I have played the other games that I need to understand/enjoy that one. Would I still be able to thoroughly understand the games that are available to me without playing the others? (I've thought about just buying a 360, but I would really only be using it for a few metal gear solid games.) TLDR - can the portion of the metal gear games available on Xbox one be thoroughly understood without playing the others. [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Jan 2020 07:51 PM PST Recently I finished all the story missions in MGSV but I had looked up the mission afterwards to see the cutscenes with a character that didn't have face paint and I noticed the requirements were that I needed Mother Base fully upgraded but I am kinda far from fully upgraded.
