I absolutely love Solid Snake’s original outfit/look, it’s an iconic look that I wish was actually utilized a lot more and used in other games instead of just the first one, I know it’s very sloppy ATM but this is my very first attempt at customizing any figurine! I’m just very proud of how it looks

Best way to defeat Volgin in the first fight after the C3 get planted?

The best way i've found so far it to just fire the M63 (machine gun) at him until he takes damage, unequip and re-equip to reload, repeat until cutscene

My thoughts on the Metal Gear Solid games

    Posted: 11 Nov 2019 03:49 PM PST

I remember growing up in the 90s and playing Metal Gear Solid 1 for the first time. It was like nothing I had ever played before.

The cinematic storytelling, the stellar voice acting, the gameplay, tone the game had, the philosophical nature of many of its themes, the mind blowing moments like the Psycho Mantis fight, were all incredibly amazing.

It's one of those games that I will cherish forever.

Then came Metal Gear Solid 2 for the PlayStation 2. What set it apart from the first one was the advancements of gameplay. How you could go into first person mode and suddenly have a much better view on what you were doing whilst shooting. It was mixing elements of first person shooters into a third person view game. That was groundbreaking at the time and set the stage for many games in the future to develop this even more. Resident Evil 4 then took this aspect further with the over the shoulder shooting aspect which then MGS4 incorporates. But at the time, MGS2 was truly groundbreaking in its gameplay. Not only that, the graphics were incredible and the story, even though very similar to MGS1, had many themes that when looking back today, it almost seemed to predict the future in many aspects with virtual reality and how people were relying more on the digital side. It's very meta in its storytelling and nowadays, I appreciate it a lot more than I did back in the day.

Metal Gear Solid 3 was the perfect game to then improve the already stellar gameplay that was present in MGS2, touch upon really interesting themes during the Cold War era, but most of all add an emotional aspect to the story with Big Boss' relationship with The Boss. You could immediately tell that Big Boss, as a character in its early stages, was more human than Solid Snake was in MGS1, and that was really interesting to witness throughout the entire game. Even being naive with characters he would later encounter, such as EVA. But also the game was incredibly stylised, with its great soundtrack and execution of the storytelling in the game. For instance, the moment when you go up the ladder and you start to listen to "Snake Eater" was such a great moment. The game knew when to dial down and breathe. And you as a gamer were immersed in it. Plus, the boss battles were spectacular, especially The End, The Sorrow and of course The Boss.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was more of a very big film with amazing gameplay moments, but it still had moments that are talked about to this day. The crawling scene near the end of the game. The gameplay in the beginning of the game was something else. The Shadow Moses segment was a moment that I will never forget, listening to the original MGS1 music when getting there. Plus all the sound flashbacks were great add ons. And I also love how empty Shadow Moses is. It gives you the feeling of passage of time. Like when you revisit a place that was really special to you, but when you get there, you know it will never be the same. And the Shadow Moses segment had that feeling. But the greatest moment was the final boss battle, still one of my favourite moments of all time in gaming. Not as great as the other 3, but still an incredible experience to go through, and wraps everything (or at least tries to).

Metal Gear Solid V has yet to click with me. I've played around 10 hours of it, maybe even 15, but it doesn't grab me in the same way the others have. I believe one of the reasons is the fact that Kiefer Sutherland plays Venom Snake rather than David Hayter. I tried my best to connect with this "new" Snake, but it's really hard for me. The other reason is I feel that there is an emptiness to the world that you play in. Maybe that was the intention, but the tone present in the other Metal Gear games was more to my liking to immerse myself in. MGSV seems to lack that? Maybe I need to play more for it to click with me. However, I can't deny that the gameplay is probably the BEST gameplay in a game I've ever played. There's so much to do in that sense and when you can use it to your advantage, that's when it becomes a lot of fun.

It's funny actually having a game like MGS4 that is so focused on story, but has little gameplay, and then MGSV seems to be the opposite. But I will finish MGSV one day. I have to. Even if it doesn't click with me, I've got to finish it.

So, my order for these games as of now would be:

    -MGS1
    -MGS3
    -MGS2
    -MGS4
    -MGSV

Metal Gear Solid 1 is still my favourite, because the whole experience for me was perfect. I love the story, it's so well structured, it's great to see Solid Snake at the start seem so cold and as the game goes along he opens himself more and more (the codec conversations with Naomi in the cell about Frank Jaeger is so so good) and each reveal added so much to the experience.

I did not include Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, because I haven't played it yet and I really really want to. I've heard so many good things about it.

But besides that, how would you order these games? Which resonated with you and which didn't let? I would love to know your thoughts.

PS: I'm now really excited to play Death Stranding. I've played the beginning and I'm loving it. I love the tone of the world. It's so beautiful to look at, I just want to walk around everywhere. Really enjoying Kojima's new game.

    About D-Walker

    Posted: 11 Nov 2019 03:14 PM PST

So, I was wondering some things about D-Walker heads upgrades in MGSV; first off, do they retain previous feats, or each head has its own perk and that's it? And then, either case, which one is the best in your opinion? Thanks in advance

    About mgsv’s story

    Posted: 11 Nov 2019 01:04 PM PST

So I beat the game again after like 2 years and I have a new opinion on the story, its actually pretty great and stands up with the other ones but the when pivotal stuff happens it's so far and few between but when it does it's extremely powerful and also the tapes are great. That unfinished ending is still a bummer tho

Machine gun with undermount grenade launcher

    Posted: 11 Nov 2019 09:23 AM PST

So as I wrote in title. I want to customize a machine gun with gl attachment. Currently I have only one machine gun with undermount slot and its unable to attach. And Im wondering if the machine guns that I will unlock in the future will have the same problem.
